Consumption of Alcohol: Drinking of these beverages is not permitted on roads or in parking lots.

  • Beer which contains more than 0.5% of alcohol by volume but not more than 6.25% of alcohol by volume.
  • High Alcoholic Content Beer which contains more than 6.25% of alcohol by volume, but not more than 15% of alcohol by volume. Not more than 1.5% of the volume of a “high alcoholic content beer” may consist of alcohol derived from added flavors and other nonbeverage ingredients containing alcohol. The added flavors and other nonbeverage ingredients may not include added caffeine or other added stimulants including but not limited to guarana, ginseng, and taurine.
  • Canned Cocktails which means a mixed drink or cocktail that is premixed and packaged in a metal can and contains more than 6.25% of alcohol by volume but not more than 15% of alcohol by volume.
  • Wine which contains more than 6.25% of alcohol by volume but not more than 21.25% of alcohol by volume.
  • Alcoholic liquors are not to be consumed in parks, recreation areas and forests. This includes hard liquors (whiskey, vodka, etc.).
  • Keg beer is allowed through a keg beer permit only. Renter must obtain a permit from park staff at least 30 days prior to the rental. A keg beer deposit in the amount of $100 per 100 or fewer persons will be required. Depending upon the size of your gathering, the damage deposit for the lodge rental may be waived in lieu of the keg beer deposit if the keg beer deposit is greater than $100. Keg beer is not permitted in campgrounds, on beaches or in parking areas.
  • Use and Cleaning Rules:
There are a number of rules and restrictions pertaining to the use of this facility including decorations and clean up. All renters should read the rules/restrictions PDF for this facility located on the Iowa DNR website.

Renters are expected to abide by all facility use rules and cleaning procedures for the facility. Failure to review these items could result in cancellation of your reservation and forfeiture of reservation transaction fees.

If you are having an event that requires a special event permit in addition to a shelter reservation, please contact the park office to discuss the details of the event. You will also need to go online to the Department’s website to complete a special event application form. Failure to do so may result in cancellation of the shelter reservation and forfeiture of reservation transaction fees.

The shelter must be cleaned prior to vacating for the evening. Please plan to have your function over by 10:00 p.m. or earlier if necessary in order to clean and leave before the park closes.

Most parks have a carry-in, carry-out trash policy. Please place all trash in containers, if provided. If no containers are available, please haul trash away with you when you leave.

    Area

Cancellation Policy: Cancellation fee of $6 for online cancellations or $7 for call center cancellations applies for all cancellations. Cancellations which occur 15-29 days prior to arrival will result in a forfeiture of one night's/day's rental fee and tax plus the cancellation fee. Cancellations less than 15 days prior to the arrival date will result in a forfeiture of two night's/day's rental fee and tax plus the cancellation fee. If the cancel fee plus the forfeiture amount exceeds the total amount of fees originally paid, DNR will not collect any additional money.

Note: The arrival date cannot be changed to a later date without losing the entire reservation when the departure date remains the same. However, the arrival date can be changed to an earlier date If the arrival and departure dates of the entire reservation change, that is allowed.

Change Policy: A fee of $5 for each reservation changed online and $6.50 for each reservation changed through the call center. The last day to change a reservation is 15 days prior to arrival if paying by credit/debit card and 21 days prior to arrival if paying by check.

Reservation Fee Policy: A nonrefundable reservation fee is charged for each reservation. The reservation fee is $4.50 for online or $6 for call center reservations.

Rates subject to change; if reservation changes are made, new rates will apply.
