Sleeps 6 (maximum 8) with a maximum stay of 5 consecutive nights. This 16ft x 20ft log cabin has an eight foot porch and is the only building on the lake. There are bunks for three on the first floor, a half loft has open floor space. GPS 61°40'30.96''N, 150° 6'20.99''W. Located at milepost 5 on the Nancy Lake Parkway, the Rhein Lake Cabin is the newest in Nancy Lake State Recreation Area cabin program. It's also the easiest to access in the summer months by highway vehicle almost to the cabin door. The cabin is secured with a combination lock (combination provided after reservation in an e-mail - if you do not receive this e-mail within a few hours of making the reservation, please call the DNR Public Information Center at (907) 269-8400 with your reservation number handy to obtain the combination). There is a well-marked gate and driveway that leads you to the cabin, located on the south end of the lake. In the winter, park at the Winter Trailhead parking lot (Mile 2.2 of the Nancy Lake Parkway). Using registered snowmobiles, skis, snowshoes, or dog sled, travel the unplowed portion of the parkway another 3 miles. Rhein Lake is in a non-motorized part of the recreation area. ATVs, snowmobiles and floatplanes prohibited. Snowmobiles may be driven ONLY to the cabin, not beyond. Once at the cabin, the interior is designed for ease of access. There is also a trail leading from the cabin to the lake that is stocked with rainbow trout.
