Monadnock State Park HQ is located in and around the 3,165-ft. Mount Monadnock. The park is surrounded by thousands of acres of protected highlands. In 1987, Mount Monadnock was designated a National Natural Landmark. The park offers year-round recreational opportunities.

    Pets are not permitted at this park. Anyone entering with a pet will be asked to leave.

Cancellations and Refunds

  • Full refund minus transaction fee if you cancel at least 10 + days prior to the scheduled arrival date.
  • Full refund minus reservation fee plus cost of one night of camping if you cancel 4-9 days prior to the scheduled arrival date.
  • No refund if you cancel 0-3 days from your scheduled arrival date.

Facility Information:

  • Camping is available year round , however there is no snowplowing, so all campers pack in their gear.
  • Please do not bring out of state firewood with you. Firewood can carry exotic insects and tree diseases. Safe firewood is available to purchase at the campground for your convenience.
  • NO hook up sites available at this campground.
  • There is a maximum of two vehicles per campsite, excluding group sites.
There is limited to no cell service at this park. Service may vary based on provider. For emergency calls, use pay phone located at the park office.

Fee Information:

  • The nightly base site fee pays for 2 adults only and up to 4 dependent children under 18. You must be 18 to register for a campsite.
  • Extra adults are $10 per night.
  • NH Senior Citizens are given a $5 per night discount to all campgrounds with the exception of Cannon Mountain RV, Ellacoya, and Hampton Beach.

Day Passes - Important Information

Day Use: Visitors should make a reservation before arriving at the park as parking is limited (especially on nice weekends and holidays). However, a limited number of walk-in spaces are available and visitors who do not make a reservation will be admitted on a first come/first-serve basis. Reservations can be made up to 30 days prior to arrival and no later than 5pm on the day of your visit.

Additional Information

  • Monadnock is not an easy hike. All routes to the top include very steep and rocky sections. Recreationists should possess the necessary knowledge, skill, and equipment to ensure their own safety. Users assume all risk while recreating in State Park lands.
  • Hikers interested in finding out current conditions prior to heading out can call the park directly at (603) 532-8862.
  • In the winter and spring, trails may be icy. Microspikes are recommended.
  • Pets are not permitted in the park. Please note that this law includes all trails and areas on Mount Monadnock that are within Monadnock State Park boundaries.
  • The $15 vehicle fee covers day use admission for the driver and occupants of the vehicle. Vehicle must be non-commercial with a maximum of 6 occupants.

  • Refund Policy:

    Cancellations MUST be made prior to 9AM of the day of your visit to receive a refund. There will be no refunds due to weather or insects. Refunds requested for extenuating circumstances must be submitted to: nhparks@dncr.nh.gov where they will be evaluated on a case by case basis.

    Discount for New Hampshire Seniors:
    Indicate that you are a senior on your order details page and you will not be charged the day-use/parking fee. However, there is a $1 transaction fee for using the online reservation system.

    To receive your discount at our per person fee locations, simply enter the number of NH Senior Citizens in the vehicle/occupant information section of the order details page, instead of the number of Adults.

    To receive your discount at our per vehicle locations (Hampton Beach State Park (South), Wallis Sands State Park, Livermore Falls, Monadnock State Park), check the NH Senior Citizens box listed among the other complementary entrance options in the primary occupant profile section of the order details page.

    If you choose not to purchase a day use pass or parking pass reservation, we will be setting aside a limited number of parking spaces for seniors based upon historical use. This does not guarantee space will be available when you arrive at the park.
