Save the Day Passes
Many parks fill to capacity on weekends and holidays. Pre-purchase a day pass and guarantee your entry and parking. Day passes are:
  • Valid until 10 p.m., unless the park closes earlier.
  • Available up to 1 month in advance.
  • Not transferrable to another person or park.
  • Also sold at the park, if available.
Learn more about Save the Day Passes. December 11, 2024 - A Planned project for the Walnut Ridge Unit bridge is expected to begin in January 2025. The Day Use area, campsites, and all trails will be closed for the duration of the project.
The Wildscape Garden and Education Center will remain open during this time. The project is expected to be completed by the end of February 2025.


Driving Directions
From Houston: Take I-69/US 59 North to Livingston. Right (East) on US 190 to Woodville. Continue on 190 another 17 miles, follow signs to park.

From Dallas: Take US 175 to Jacksonville. Right (South) on HWY. 69 to Woodville. Left(East) on US 190 for 17 miles, follow signs to park.

From Texarkana: Take US-67 to Maud. Left (South) on TX-8 S and continue on US-59 S and US-96 S to Jasper. Turn right (West) on US 190 for 9 miles, follow signs to park.

From Beaumont: Take US 96 to Jasper. Left (West) on US 190 for 12 miles and follow signs to park.
Alerts and Important Information
Beginning December 1, 2025, the Walnut Ridge Unit of the park will be closed so that a TxDOT bridge project can be completed. This closure will impact all overnight accommodations and most day-use activities. This closure impacts all trails, picnic areas, boat ramps, fishing areas, walk-in access to the WMA hunting area on the Walnut Ridge Unit.   The area before the entrance gate will still be accessible to the public.  This includes the Education Center and the wildlife viewing blind. 

Pets are allowed in all areas of the park, however pets are not allowed in any of the park's buildings including cabins, shelters, restrooms or offices.

If your plans change, please modify or cancel your reservation as soon as possible to allow someone else to enjoy the park.

DAY USE FEE:
$4 per day, per person 13 and older.

Park Headquarters and Park Store Hours 8:30am – 5pm

Park Headquarters and Park Store closed daily from 12noon to 1:15pm

Park gates remain open at all times except for emergency situations or unit closures.

Notes
Guests with reservations arriving after 5 p.m. can go directly to their campsite and return to park headquarters to complete camping check-in after 8:30am the following morning. Overnight guests without a camping reservation arriving after park headquarters has closed should choose an Available site and return to park headquarters the following morning after 8:30a.m. to complete registration and pay fees. We ask overnight guests without a reservation, to not use self-pay stations to pay fees. Quiet hours are in effect nightly from 10 p.m. until 6 a.m. Please be courteous to your neighbor while setting up your campsite and keep noise to minimum.

All overnight guests must occupy a campsite. Camping in a Day-Use area is strictly prohibited.

If arriving after hours for Day-Use, complete a self-pay envelope at one of the 6 pay stations and deposit the envelope in the honor box. Park Closes at 10:00 pm for Day-Use customers.
