If this shelter is not reserved, it is available for public use, for free, on a first-come, first-served basis. A few rules to keep in mind:
1. Shelter is available during park gate hours.
2. Only charcoal is allowed in grills. Gathering firewood is strictly prohibited.
3. Place all trash and recyclable materials in provided bins.
4.Silly string, confetti, and water balloons are prohibited.
5. Use only tape to hang decorations.
6. Noises, amplified speech, music, or other sounds that annoy or disturb park visitors are prohibited.
7. Report any damage or mess to the park office.
8. You are responsible for cleaning up your mess.
9. All other park rules apply.

North Carolina State Park rules and regulations are posted in each park and enforced by rangers. Violating these rules and regulations is a misdemeanor and may result in a fine and revocation of permit.
This site accepts requests for a Special Activity Permit Alcohol Supplement that, if approved as part of a Special Activity Permit, would allow alcohol to be served at this location as part of your event. To request permission for an event at this facility, fill out the forms at https://www.ncparks.gov/hours-fees-and-permits and contact the park directly.
Fireworks are prohibited. Firearms are prohibited except for with the proper license.
Fires are only permitted in designated fire rings at each site, and must be attended to by an adult. Building fires in undesignated areas is prohibited.
Gates are locked at the specific hours posted upon entering the park. There is no entry or exit once the gates are locked, except for emergencies.
Park Hours are: May - September: 7 a.m. - 10 p.m.
March, April and October: 7 a.m. - 9 p.m.
November: 7 a.m. - 8 p.m.
December - February: 7 a.m. - 7 p.m.
Picnic Shelters are available 30 minutes after opening.
Checkout times are 30 minutes before the facility closes. Checkout times are as follows:December through February: Checkout time is 6:30 p.m. as the park closes at 7 p.m.
March, April and October: Checkout time is 8:30 p.m. as the park closes at 9 p.m.
May through September: Checkout time is 9:30 p.m. as the park closes at 10 p.m.
November: Checkout time is 7:30 p.m. as the park closes at 8 p.m.
Pets are allowed except in park buildings and swim areas, but they must be on a leash no longer than six feet and cannot be left unattended.
State vehicle and traffic laws are enforced, and the speed limit is 25 mph unless otherwise posted.
Unlicensed vehicles and motorcycles, golf carts, ATV's and mini-bikes are prohibited with the exception of mobility-aid devices used by a mobility-impaired person. All vehicles are prohibited from walkways, trails and other areas not designated for such purposes.
North Carolina state parks are wildlife sanctuaries; no hunting is allowed and collecting plants, minerals and artifacts is prohibited. State fishing regulations are enforced. North Carolina fishing licenses are required where fishing is available.
Special activity permit is required for special events like weddings, bike events, festivals, etc. Please contact the park office for further information.
