Save the Day Passes
Many parks fill to capacity on weekends and holidays. Pre-purchase a day pass and guarantee your entry and parking. Day passes are:
- Valid until 10 p.m., unless the park closes earlier.
- Available up to 1 month in advance.
- Not transferrable to another person or park.
- Also sold at the park, if available.
Driving Directions
From Austin:
HWY 183 north to Brownwood. Take Hwy 279 North for 15 miles. Turn right on Park Road 15 for 6 miles to Park Headquarters.
From Brownwood: Take Hwy 279 North for 15 miles. Turn right on Park Road 15 for 6 miles to Park Headquarters.
From Dallas: Take I 30 West to Hwy 377. Take Hwy 377 South to Brownwood. Take Hwy 279 North 15 miles. Turn right on Park Road 15 for 6 miles to Park Headquarters. OR; Take I 20 West to HWY 206, go south to Cross Plains, take HWY 279 south for 18 miles. Go left on Park Rd 15. From Abilene: Take Hwy 36 East to Cross Plains. Take Hwy 279 South for 18 miles. Turn left on Park Road 15 for 6 miles to Park Headquarters.

Alerts and Important Information
The Rec Hall, group lodges, and cabins will be closed for renovations starting on August 18, 2025. Renovations are expected to take about 18 months.
Prescribed burns are planned during this timeframe (October-April), depending on weather and other factors. Prescribed fire operations and associated smoke may impact your visit. Some camping areas, lodging facilities, trails, and day-use areas may be closed for public safety. Contact the park to learn how this may affect your stay.
If your plans change, please modify or cancel your reservation as soon as possible to allow someone else to enjoy the park.

$5 per day, per person 13 and older.
OFFICE AND GATE INFORMATION:
Park has front gates that are automatically closed from 10pm to 6am. Overnight guests will be provided with the gate code.
Due to High volume of trail use, trails will be closed to bikes for a minimum of 3 days after any wet weather to preserve the natural features.
PETS:
Pets are not allowed in any park buildings (including facilities).

The front gate will automatically close at 10 pm and reopen at 6 am. Vehicles are allowed out, but a gate code is required to re-enter overnight.
The Self-Pay Station is Intended for collection of Day-Use fees. If a customer is unable to register in person the box can be used to pay for 1 night only for late arrivals without reservation. Customers with reservations are assigned to a site of that site type. A map with instructions is placed at the Late Arrival Station; the name of the reservation is written on the map. You can select a different site than they are assigned only if other sites are available (this can be check on the Availability List posted). Customers without a reservation need to check the Availability List posted each day at the Late Arrival Station and select a site that is available. Late arrivals with or without reservations for campsites are instructed to not to use the Self-Pay and register at the Park Headquarters by 9am the next morning. Site extensions for are based on availability.
FOR SCREENED SHELTER/CABIN/LODGE/GROUP HALL:

Late arrivals for these facilities must have a reservation and need to contact the office before 5 pm on the day of arrival for further instructions. Same day reservations for these facilities need to be made with the park by 4 pm that day.
