Area
February 20, 2025 - Starting March 1, Construction crews are currently working on the state park road at the scenic overlook leading into Old Garner, reducing it to one lane. As a result, traffic flow will be limited. Please proceed with caution, expect delays, and follow all posted signage.
Site
This park does not utilize pre-registrations. Permits are issued on site and visitors must check in at Headquarters.
When reserving one of our Historic CCC cabins you will experience a part of Texas’s pride and joy as you spend the night in our hand-crafted cabins. Our cabins have been restored to return them to their original rustic charm while adding modern conveniences such as central air and heat. Cabins are furnished with replica wooden Adirondack style furniture to match the original style and may not meet the creature comfort expectations found in more modern establishments.
Due to Fire Code enforcement a maximum of 6 overnight guests are allowed in the cabins. Cabins are furnished with two full (double) size beds accommodating 4 guests; a 6-person maximum is allowed in cabins with an additional fee of $10 per 5th and 6th person per night. Customer may bring cots or air mattresses. Cabins do not come with linens, blankets or towels. No utensils or cooking dishes are provided.
A $100 cleaning deposit will be collected by credit card only, upon arrival. No one can check into a cabin unless the deposit is paid first. The cleaning deposit will be refunded on the day of departure, after the facility has been inspected and approved. Local & state tax applies to all cabin reservations.
No pets are allowed inside the cabins OR in the cabin area. If you reserve a cabin and bring a pet, we will rent a tent site to you if availability allows. An adult must always stay with the pet at the tent site. Emotional Support Animals are not allowed in state facilities. Service Animals are welcome. All pets must remain on a six foot or shorter leash and cannot be left unattended.
Should you arrive after the office is closed (and your cleaning deposit has been paid by calling the park earlier that day), your assigned cabin will have the porch light on, and the key will be inside. Cabins cannot be accessed after the main park gate is locked. Customers are allowed to wait in Headquarters parking lot with other unregistered customers until the office opens at 8am. All customers arriving after hours must register at the Park Headquarters by 9am the next morning.
Due to limited road clearance and parking space, RVs, campers, or motorhomes are NOT allowed at the cabins. If you happen to be traveling in or with a “big rig”, we can accommodate you in our overflow parking area at the Dance Pavilion.
On the first Tuesday of each month our cabins are treated with pesticides.
