Save the Day Passes
Many parks fill to capacity on weekends and holidays. Pre-purchase a day pass and guarantee your entry and parking. Day passes are:
- Valid until 10 p.m., unless the park closes earlier.
- Available up to 1 month in advance.
- Not transferrable to another person or park.
- Also sold at the park, if available.
Driving Directions
From San Antonio:
Take I-10 West to Balmorhea. Go South on Hwy 17,right at junction with Hwy 118 in Fort Davis. Go Northwest on Hwy 118 for 3 1/2 miles to the park entrance.
From El Paso:
Take I-10 East to Van Horn. Go South on Hwy 90 through Valentine, then left on 505. Go right at intersection with 166, then left at Hwy 17 and proceed through Fort Davis. Keep left at intersection of Hwy 17 and 118, continue 3 1/2 miles northwest on Hwy 118 to the park entrance.

Alerts and Important Information
July 30, 2025 - A portion of Skyline Drive Trail and the Scenic Overlook and its parking lot are closed due to a construction project. Staff will be on hand to direct drivers around the closures.

The Limpia Canyon Primitive Area will be closed from 6am on the day before the hunt start date until 8am on the day after the hunt ends.

November 16, 2022 - Burn ban in effect until further notice. No wood fires are allowed. However, charcoal and containerized fuel stoves (i.e. propane) are allowed for cooking. Contact the park for the latest information.
If your plans change, please modify or cancel your reservation as soon as possible to allow someone else to enjoy the park.

$6 per day, per person 13 and older.

8:15 a.m. - 4:45 p.m. daily
Persons going to Indian Lodge do not pay daily entrance fee unless using park facilities.
Park has high water pressure (90psi). The Brass fitting on the water tap is a back-flow preventer, not a pressure regulator.
The newly renovated Interpretive Center at Davis Mountains is open daily from 8am to 5pm, 7 days a week.

Notes
The main gate to the park is never locked. Skyline Drive closes at 10pm. Day Use customers are only allowed in park till 10pm.
Customers visiting Indian Lodge or the Black Bear restaurant may proceed up to the Indian Lodge.
If you have a reservation for camping there will be a map on the camp board that will tell you which site to go to and how to get there. Please proceed to your site and come in and register by 9am tomorrow morning. If there is a problem with your site please contact a park host for further assistance.
If you arrive after hours without a reservation, please look carefully at the camp board. The map will tell you which sites - if any - are available. Choose from one of the available sites and self- register with an Iron Ranger Envelope. If you are unable to self- register make sure you come in to the Headquarters by 9am to get registered.
If you are here after 5pm and are arriving at the park for day use, please self- register using one of the Iron Ranger envelopes provided and pay the day use fee of $6 per adult or provide your park pass information on the envelope. Keep the top white copy to be placed in the driver's side windshield of your vehicle and deposit the brown envelope in the depository.
FOR CAMPSITE EQUESTRIAN PRIMITIVE:
Customers must check in with Headquarters before 5pm for camping. If you are a late arrival for primitive or equestrian please see park host. If you have any questions or concerns please contact park host.
