Save the Day Passes
Many parks fill to capacity on weekends and holidays. Pre-purchase a day pass and guarantee your entry and parking. Day passes are:
  • Only valid for entry during the time slot you select. Once you enter, you may stay in the park for the rest of the day.
  • Valid until 10 p.m., unless the park closes earlier.
  • Available up to 1 month in advance.
  • Not transferrable to another person or park.
  • Also sold at the park, if available.

Driving Directions
From Austin: Take Hwy 183 North to Lampasas. Take FM 580 West for 24 miles to Bend, Tx. From Bend, head South for 10 miles following signs to the park. Once at the park's entrance continue 6 miles to the Park Headquarters. Be sure to follow the signs.

From Waco: Take I 35 South to Belton. Exit to Hwy 190 West and go to Lampasas. Take FM 580 West for 24 miles to Bend, Tx. From Bend, head South for 10 miles following signs to the park. Once at the park's entrance continue 6 miles to the Park Headquarters. Be sure to follow the signs.

Alerts and Important Information
August 8, 2025 - Colorado Bend is open for day use and select camping. Please make day use or camping reservations in advance before your arrival to the park - we will have limited availability.

River Access - Starting August 9, the Spicewood Day Use Area is reopened for fishing, swimming, and paddling! The boat ramp remains closed right now, but you can launch kayaks, canoes, or paddleboards from the riverbank. Please do not park on the grass and make reservations in advance as parking spots can fill up fast!

The park still has areas that are unsafe, so the following areas and trails will remain closed until further notice:
* The Boat Ramp
* The River Trail
* Dogleg Canyon Trail
* Spicewood Springs Trail
* Spicewood Canyon Trail
* Small Portion of Lemons Ridge Pass Trail
* River Group Site
* Campsites 1-25
* River Backcountry Sites 1-8

All other trails and areas not listed will be open. A 0.5-mile section of the park road past the Windmill Trailhead has been reduced to 1 lane. Please slow down, use caution, and obey all traffic control devices.

Please follow all posted signage, barricades, and directions when visiting for your safety. A map showcasing closed areas will be available upon arrival. Please contact the park for more details.

PARK HUNT DATES:
Oct. 21-23, Oct. 31-Nov. 2, Nov. 18-20, Dec. 5-7, Jan.13-15
The entire park will be closed from 5pm the night before the hunt and will reopen at 5pm on the last day of the hunt.

HEAT WARNING
With hotter temperatures, if you are coming to the park, be sure to being plenty of water for you, your family, and pets.
It's recommended to have at least 1 liter of water per hour of activity, per person. Water spigots are available in the campground for refilling water bottles. Make sure your pets are safe with enough water and watch the temperatures on the rocks!

April 1, 2024 - Boat Ramp is currently closed to boat use by trailer unloading/loading. Only kayaks and hand unloaded/loaded vessels are permitted.

If your plans change, please modify or cancel your reservation as soon as possible to allow someone else to enjoy the park.

DAY USE FEE:
$5 per day, per person 13 and older.

OFFICE AND GATE INFORMATION:
Gate open from 6am to 10pm. Customers who will arrive after 10pm will need to call the park by 4:30pm for the gate access code. The gate closes for emergencies & during public hunt periods.
Office Hours are 8:45am to 4:15pm daily.

TOUR INFORMATION:
Gorman Falls is accessible by a day use hiking trail. The trail length is 3 miles round trip.

Notes
Colorado Bend State Park has an automated gate that closes at 10pm and opens at 6am daily. Park is closed at 10pm, except for overnight customers. Campers with a reservation that will be arriving after 10pm should call the park Headquarters before 4:15pm to obtain the gate code.

The park headquarters is located in the main campground near the end of the six mile park road. A self-pay station is located at the park entrance and should be used only for day use fees. All overnight customers arriving after 4:15pm should check-in using the After Hour Check-in Procedures posted outside the headquarters.

In the event the park is sold out, sites may be assigned at closing time with the site assignments posted outside headquarters to ensure every reservation has a site. Walk-in campers without a reservation may NOT occupy a site when there are no-vacancies.
