Sleeps 6 (maximum 6) with a maximum stay of 5 nights per month. Stiles Creek Trail is closed to all but foot traffic during spring break-up (from early April through late May). For more information on trail closures contact the Northern Area office at (907)451-2695. Located about mid-way on a 15 mile loop ridge trail, this cabin can be reached year-round, using the trail travel mode appropriate for the season. For summer access, follow the red trail markers for the Stiles Creek Trail from the trailhead at either Mile 31.6 or Mile 36.4 Chena Hot Springs Road. Rebuilt in 1998, it has a nice view of the Chena River valley, from its 4' porch. The cozy log cabin is 12' X 14' and offers a sleeping platform on the main floor and a half-loft sleeping area above.
There is no neaby source for water. Be sure to pack in enough water for your stay.
WINTER ACCESS ALERT: Alaska State Parks recommends the Mile 31.6 trailhead for winter access to the Stiles Creek cabin due to difficult trail conditions. The trail from the Mile 36.4 trailhead experiences frequent winter wind events resulting in windswept and heavily drifted trail conditions.
