The park gate closes and is locked at night. Vehicle access in or out is not permitted during closed hours. Emergency numbers for after-hours response are posed above the marina phone in the breezeway. Gate closing hours change with the seasons.

Park hours are:
- December & January: 7 AM - 6 PM
- November & February: 7 AM - 7 PM
- March, April & October: 7 AM - 9 PM
- May thru Septermber: 7 AM - 10 PM
- Quiet hours are 11 PM to 7 AM.
- Check-in time is 4:00 PM and check-out time is 3:00 PM.
- Check-in is at the Marina Store.
- Vehicles must be parked in the site driveways.
- Maximum of 2 vehicles allowed per site. Extra vehicles will be issued a parking permit and will utilize additional parking at the Visitor Center.
- All food and food containers should be kept inside RV or vehicle and not left outside when unattended.
- Alcoholic beverages, fireworks, and weapons are prohibited. Firearms are prohibited, unless in possession of a vlalid Concealed Carry Permit (CCP).
- Cutting or damaging live trees, shrubs and other plants is prohibited.
- Unlicensed vehicles, motorcycles, golf carts, ATV's and minibikes are prohibited w/ exception of mobility-aid devices used by a mobility-impaired person.
- Dump station is available in Loop 1.
- Coin-operated laundry is available at the marina.
Picnic table and fire ring is provided. Building fires in undesignated areas is prohibited. All fires must be contained in fire pits and attended at all times. Collecting firewood in the park is prohibited. You may bring your own firewood or purchase it per bundle, on-site from marina store. Distances: to Visitor Center 0.5 miles, to marina & boat launch 0.75 miles.
Closed for Camping Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
Early check-in is permissible if site was not occupied on previous night. North Carolina State Park rules and regulations are posted and enforeced by rangers. Violation of rules and regulations is a misdemeanor and may result in a fine and revocation of camping permit. North Carolina State Parks are wildlife sanctuaries; no hunting is allowed and collecting plants, minerals and artifacts is prohibited. State fishing regulations are enforced. Licenses are available locally for purchase on the island.
