Many parks fill to capacity on weekends and holidays. Pre-purchase a day pass and guarantee your entry and parking. Day passes are:
- Only valid for entry during the time slot you select. Once you enter, you may stay in the park for the rest of the day.
- Valid until 10 p.m., unless the park closes earlier.
- Available up to 1 month in advance.
- Not transferrable to another person or park.
- Also sold at the park, if available.
We do not accept Walk-ins for Daily Entrance after we have met our visitation capacity.
VISITATION CAPACITY: To ensure visitor safety and the preservation of significant natural and cultural resources at Balmorhea State Park, day-use visitation is limited to 650 visitors per day.
POOL INFORMATION:
Pool steps are slippery and caution needs to be used when entering and exiting the springs. Spring-fed pool hours are from 8 am to 7:30 pm (or sunset, whichever comes first) year-round. Pool bathhouses close 30 minutes before pool closing.
Swimming is not allowed in the canals.
No lifeguards on duty. Swim at your own risk.
Children 14 years of age or younger must be supervised by a parent, legal guardian, or other responsible adult over the age of 17 years at all times.
Pool floats are allowed, but they must be soft-sided, inflatable, and no larger than 8 ft. long and 4 ft. wide.
Paddles, oars, and motorized devices of any kind are not allowed in the pool.
No cooking, pets, or glass containers in pool area.
No grills or tents allowed in the pool area. Pop-up covers are allowed.
Scuba instructors must show proof of insurance before diving. Scuba divers must show proof of certification and sign a Diving Agreement before diving and all divers must have a partner. All divers must pay a $5 per person activity fee. Learn more about swimming and diving in the pool here.

Driving Directions
From San Antonio:
Take I 10 West to Exit 209 - Balmorhea/Ft. Davis. Take Texas 17 West for 4 miles. Park is on the South side of the road.
From El Paso: Take I 10 East to Exit 192 - Toyahvale. Take FARM ROAD 3078 East for 12 miles. Park is on the South side of the road.
From El Paso: Take I 10 East to Exit 192 - Toyahvale. Take FARM ROAD 3078 East for 12 miles. Park is on the South side of the road.
Alerts and Important Information
December 5, 2024 - Burn ban in effect until further notice. You may use containerized fuel stoves (i.e. propane) for cooking or charcoal. No wood may be used in the fire rings or pedestals.

Notes
The park has an automated gate that remains open during the park hours from 8 AM till 7:30 PM or sunset, whichever comes first. Following the park closure, access in and out of the park will be via gate code only. Those that make overnight accommodations will receive the gate code via their automated conformation email or will receive the code at the HQ building during check in. Guests wishing to camp will need to call the park during office hours (8am -5pm) to make arrangements or book online and receive the park gate code if arriving after sunset. All guests reserving overnight accommodations will need to pick up swimming pool wrist bands before entering the pool.
FOR RVs WITHOUT A RESERVATION:
If arriving after hours, refer to the after-hours board in front of the HQ office for your site assignment (or your email confirmation if booked online) or the Available Sites list. Do not park is sites that display a red "R" on the site flip card as these have been reserved by customers. All customers arriving after-hours must register and complete the payment process at the Park Headquarters by 9am the next morning. It is imperative that you park in the space you reserve! Parking is limited, additional vehicle fees will apply. Guests using the back-in sites will need vehicles to be disconnected from RV’s and parked in the designated RV parking lot. For after-hours emergencies, call 432-249-9908 or 432-755-1186.

Arrival after 5 pm will require guests to enter a 4 digit code into the key lock box on the unit to gain access. Door codes will be emailed to guests once they call the park to confirm reservations and pay the cleaning deposit. For after-hours assistance, call 432-249-9908 or 432-755-1186.
