These sites are 5 miles from the parking area and are backpack in sites only.
Parking is at the White Rock Bay Backcountry Trailhead.
On your arrival date, you will need to pick up your Backcountry Camping Packet from the entrance booth. This packet will contain your Backcountry Camping Pass which is required for camping in the backcountry. It will also contain a vehicle pass, and other valuable information.
Camping is permitted in designated backcountry sites only, located in Split Rock Bay.
Tents must be within designated 12’x12’ tent pad.
Open fires are not permitted.
There are no tables and no shade.
A vault (mulching) toilet is available.
All water for drinking and cooking must be packed in. There are no water sources in the backcountry.
Follow Pack It In/Pack It Out principles. There are no garbage facilities. Do not leave food scraps or garbage at the campsites or at the toilet.
Hike and travel on designated trails only. No cross-country travel.
Do not approach wildlife.
Dogs must be on a leash at all times. You are responsible for cleaning up after your pet.
Cell phones may not work in the backcountry.
Biting gnats (no-see-ums) are typically bad from April to June. Fine mesh head nets are recommended. Insect repellent is ineffective.
Ticks are present in spring and early summer months. Tick repellent is recommended if camping during these months.
