Kick off the camping season at a state park near you! Join the nationwide LET’S CAMP AMERICA! event created for families, first-time campers, and camping enthusiasts during the first weekend in May.
America’s State Parks offer many affordable getaways close to home and have a vast array of resources to make the outdoors fun for everyone. There are nearly 10,000 state parks across the country including 230,000 campsite, RV and cabin options. Participating LET’S CAMP AMERICA! locations will host recreation activities and offer special programs to help rediscover your connection with nature and cultural heritage. Many state parks also have educational “Learn to Camp” programs that provide camping gear and instruction on pitching a tent for those who want to try camping for the first time.
If you want to meet like-minded people, get your kids away from the computer and have the whole gang connect with the outdoors, then this event is for you. The hardest part will be picking where to stay. Join us May 6!

Let’s Camp Kansas!
There are 26 Kansas state parks just waiting for you to explore, and it should be extra fun and affordable on May 6, 2017! That’s when Kansas state parks will offer free park entrance to visitors (camping fees still apply), and host special events and activities.
Go to ksoutdoors.com and click on “State Parks” to find a state park near you. You can reserve a cabin or campsite; download maps and brochures featuring the state parks of your choice; and learn more about events planned during this special event.
Let’s Camp Hoosiers!
Indiana State Parks will be hosting many fun events and giveaways May 5-7, 2017. There are 32 properties to choose from and each state park and reservoir will include activities such as Camping 101 programs, as well as educational talks and hikes with interpreters. As a bonus, Sunday, May 7 includes free admission (camping fees still apply) in honor of Visit Indiana Week, sponsored by the Indiana Office of Tourism Development.
In addition, each camping reservation for the Let’s Camp America! weekend will be entered in a drawing for one of two $50 camping gift cards for future use. You can also enter to win a 2017 annual pass or camping gift card by sharing your adventures on the Indiana State Parks Facebook page. Favorite posts will be selected to win under each hashtag #myfavcampgadget2017, #LetsCampAmericaFunPix and #mycampingstory.
