Description:

Completely surrounded by the beautiful Catskill mountains, with panoramic views creating a picturesque setting, Kenneth L. Wilson Campground offers secluded, wooded campsites and many outdoor activities. Campers can enjoy a hike on the nature trails or ride on the mountain bike trail, and nearby villages offer numerous shops and restaurants, as well as inner-tubing the river.

Geography:

Kenneth L. Wilson Campground is located in north central Ulster County, 5 miles northwest of the village of Woodstock.

Recreation:

Activities include boating, fishing, hiking, biking, and inner-tubing on the river.

Facilities:

The park offers tent and trailer sites; a picnic area with tables and grills; restrooms with showers; baseball and soccer fields; a volleyball net; a trailer dump station; a recycling center; a bathhouse; pay phones; a mountain bike trail; and boat rentals. Most amenities are accessible to disabled visitors.

Nearby Attractions:

The nearby village of Woodstock offers golf, restaurants, and shopping. The village of Phoenicia, 6 miles west, features dining and shops, as well as tubing and fishing on the Esopus Creek. The Historic City of Kingston and the Belleayre and Hunter Mountain Ski Centers are within a half hour's drive.

Alerts and Important Information

  • To insure fairness for all NY customers, any reservation with departure dates outside the 9-month Maximum Window can not be changed or cancelled until 18 days after the reservation was made.
  • Motorized boats are not allowed on the lake.
  • All persons entering the campground must be registered.
  • Upon arrival campers must have their camping equipment and be prepared to set up.
  • No permits will be issued and no unregistered sites will be occupied between the hours of 9:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m.
  • Check in time is 12 noon until 9:00 p.m. Campers must register and occupy their site by 9:00 p.m. on the first night of their reservation.
  • Check out time is 11 a.m. Campers must vacate their campsite no later than 11:00 a.m. on the date the camping permit expires.
  • No one under 18 years of age can reserve a site or be issued a camping permit. Campers under 18 years of age must be accompanied by someone 18 years of age or older.
  • You must sign for your own site. No one else may register a site for you.
  • Occupancy is limited to 6 people per site.
  • Two tents or one unit of hard wheeled camping equipment and a tent is allowed per site.
  • The names of all campers staying on a site must be listed on the camping permit when you first register at the facility
  • Two vehicles are allowed per site. Additional vehicles will be charged a daily fee and cannot be parked at the site.
  • Length Of Stay: A camping permit can only be issued for a maximum of two weeks. From July 1 through Labor Day, only 14 cumulative days of camping can be obtained at any campground. This is to ensure that new campers can enjoy their right to camp. Reservations may not be honored if you have more than 14 days cumulative camping between July 1 and Labor Day at the campground.
  • Quiet hours are from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. and are strictly enforced. Campers not listed on the camping permit are not allowed in the facility during these hours. Generators may not be operated during these hours.
  • A recycling center is available for refuse disposal.
  • To cancel a reservation more than 2 days prior to the date of your arrival, cancel online or contact ReserveAmerica at 1-800-456-2267. To cancel a reservation within 2 days of your arrival, please call the campground at 845-679-7020.
  • Possession of firearms, fireworks or the operation of chainsaws is strictly forbidden.
  • Handicapped Access Sites: Sites that are accessible to the disabled are for mobility impaired people only. At least one member of the camping party staying on the site must be mobility impaired (for example, in a wheelchair or uses a walker) or the camping party will be turned away at the campground.
  • Refunds will not be made except in cases of bona fide emergencies, such as a death in the family, serious accident, or illness.
  • Pets are allowed with proof of current/valid rabies vaccination. Campers can walk a dog on a leash no longer than 6 feet as long as the dog is under control. Dogs can not be left unattended. Pets are not allowed in day use area, beaches or any structures.

From Thruway Exit 19 at Kingston, take the first right turn off the traffic circle to Route 28. Proceed approximately 21 miles west on Rte 28 to Mt. Tremper. Turn right on to Rte 212. Turn right again on Wittenberg Road (County Rte 40). The campsite is approximately 4 miles down, on the right side. Alternate Route: From Route 28 West, turn right at Rte 375 and follow it to Rte 212. Turn left off Rte. 212, at Bear's Cafe, onto Rte. 45. Take County Rte. 40 to the campground, on the left side of the road.
