Description

Fremont Indian State Park and Museum was established to preserve a treasury of rock art and archaeological sites. The museum visitor center offers a video program introducing visitors to the Fremont Indians.

Geography:

Pathways, one accessible for the physically challenged, lead visitors into legend and history depicted through pictographs and petroglyphs and other cultural and historic resources.

Recreation:

Camping, picnicking, visitor center/museum, fishing, wildlife viewing. Twelve interpretive rock art trails (one wheelchair accessible). ATV trail head access, 12 miles hiking/biking trails.

Facilities:

The Castle Rock campground is nestled in a canyon approximately one-half mile from the visitor center.

Nearby Attractions:

Hiking trails throughout the area, Big Rock Candy Mountain - eight miles, Kimberly Ghost Town - seven miles

  • Visitors must check in at the visitor center, approximately two miles away from the campground, after occupying their site.

  • No showers facilities.

  • Camping fee includes access to museum and trails.

  • Gathering firewood is prohibited. Firewood is for sale at the campground.

  • The one-mile campground road is not paved.

  • ATV use is limited to trail access only.
  • Additional vehicles must be approved by the park prior to your arrival.

Getting There:

The park is 21 miles southwest of Richfield on Interstate 70 (Exit 17) in central Utah.
