Dead Horse Point State Park, UTDescriptionTowering 2,000 feet directly above the Colorado River, Dead Horse Point State Park provides a breathtaking panorama of the sculptured pinnacles and buttes of Canyonlands National Park.Geography:Millions of years of geologic activity created the spectacular views from Dead Horse Point State Park. Deposition of sediments by ancient oceans, freshwater lakes, streams and wind blown sand dunes created the rock layers of canyon country. Igneous activity formed the high mountains that rise like cool blue islands out of the hot, dry desert. Recreation:Customers enjoy this parks many hiking trails. Photography, nature study, geology, wildlife viewing, and summer evening programs are a hit with visitors to this beautiful park. Facilities:A new visitor center offers information on the history, geology, and biology of the area. The small and remote, but very popular, campground rests in a beautiful red rock desert environment. Nearby Attractions:The park is 25 miles from the city of Moab.
