New area of 40 foot sites available for reservations YEAR ROUND. Located at the base of the Sierra foothills, the 18,000-acre lake and recreation area offers opportunities for hiking, biking, running, camping, picnicking, horseback riding, water-skiing and boating. Fishing offers trout, catfish, big and small mouth bass or perch. Visitors can also see the Folsom Powerhouse (once called "the greatest operative electrical plant on the American continent"), which from 1885 to 1952 produced 11,000 volts of electricity for Sacramento residents. For cyclists, there is a 32-mile long bicycle path that connects Folsom Lake with many Sacramento County parks before reaching Old Sacramento. The park also includes Lake Natoma, downstream from Folsom Lake, which is popular for crew races, sailing, kayaking and other aquatic sports.

Folsom Lake State Recreation Area Bicycle Path

As noted above, Folsom Lake State Recreation Area's 32-mile long paved bicycle path links the lake with many other county parks along the way before ending in Sacramento. Beginning at Beals Point at the lake to Discovery Park in Old Sacramento, the trail goes by the southwest corner of the lake, the west shore of Lake Natoma, and the American River. The bike path is considered to be one of the finest of its kind in the nation.

Alerts and Important Information

The Bureau of Reclamation has started a construction project adjacent to the Beal's Point Campground. The RV loop of the campground (Sites 50 - 69) will be impacted by this construction and more specifically sites 50 - 54 will have significant noise and dust. The construction is anticipated to be complete by October 2010

Discount Pass must be presented at the time of check in.

Peninsula Campground closed for the season (October 9, 2009 - May 13, 2010).

Beale's Point & Negro Bar (West Side of lake, closest to Sacramento). Reservations Year Round.
Peninsula (East Side of lake, 21 miles from Beale's Point)
Beals Point RV loop, now with sites available as full Hook-ups.
Beals Point Campground: reservations are site specific.

  - Reservations Year round
- Peninsula sites (East side of lake, 21 miles from Beals Point). Closest to Pilot Hill, approximately 45 minutes away.
  - 2010 Season: Peninsula, May 14 thru Sep 5, 2010. Beals Point and Negro Bar, All Year.
  - Peninsula sites 1st come 1st served when not on reservations
- Fees include entry for 1 vehicle and 1 legally towed vehicle or trailer, additional vehicles will be charged per night at the park. Maximum of 2 vehicles parked at the campsite.
- To book a Group site you must have at least NINE occupants
