The Corps manages over 12 million acres with 4,300 recreation areas, 101,000 campsites, 5,000 miles of trails and 56,000 miles of shoreline at 463 lakes that attract over 400 million visits each year. 80% of Corps recreation sites are within 50 miles of a large U.S. city.
Camping at National Parks
There are now 390 units in a National Park System that preserves and protects many of this nations’ most valued natural and cultural areas. From the shores of Maine and Alaska to the Rocky Mountains of Colorado to the warm beaches of California and the Virgin Islands, national parks offer something for everyone.
Bureau of Land Management
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM), an agency within the U.S. Department of the Interior, administers 258 million surface acres of America's public lands, located primarily in 12 Western States. The BLM sustains the health, diversity, and productivity of the public lands for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations.
Bureau of Reclamation
Established in 1902, the Bureau of Reclamation is best known for the dams, powerplants, and canals it constructed in the 17 western states. These water projects led to homesteading and promoted the economic development of the West. Reclamation has constructed more than 600 dams and reservoirs including Hoover Dam on the Colorado River and Grand Coulee on the Columbia River.
 
Camping and Campgrounds at National Forests
National forests are America's great outdoors. They encompass 191 million acres (77.3 million hectares) of land, which is an area equivalent to the size of  Texas. National forests provide opportunities for recreation in open spaces and natural environments.
Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness
Over one million acres in size, the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCAW) contains hundreds of lakes and rivers, has 1200 miles of canoe routes and is home to abundant plants and wildlife, including threatened and endangered species. With over 200,000 people visiting per year, it is one of the most heavily used wilderness areas in the country.
