Pittsfield State Forest, MADescriptionStream, waterfalls and flowering shrubs abound in Pittsfield State Forest. 65 acres of wild azaleas are a profusion of pink blossoms in June. The forest has two camping areas and a swimming beach. Fishermen frequent scenic Berry Pond, one of the highest natural water bodies in Massachusetts at 2,150 feet. The vista from the top of Berry Mountain is a striking panorama, a good place to watch the sun set. Services & Amenities:
Alerts and Important InformationIMPORTANT: Beginning in the 2010 camping season, MA State Parks prohibits the transportation of firewood into or out of MA State Park Campground facilities. Firewood will be available at the campground for a donation of $5.00 per bundle. Transportation of firewood into or out of MA State Park Campground facilities may result in eviction, or substantial fine, or both. Alcoholic beverages are prohibited in all Massachusetts State Parks and Campgrounds. The reservation must be in the name of the primary occupant. To insure fairness for all MA customers, any reservation with departure dates outside the 6-month Maximum Window cannot be changed or canceled until 18 days after the reservation was made. If you choose to cancel or change your reservation, a $10.00 fee will be charged. The reservation transaction charge is non-refundable. Cancellations made on the day of arrival must be made by contacting the campground and will result in the loss of the first night's camping use fee plus the $10.00 cancellation fee. Fees will be deducted from any refunds due or will be added to future reservations. Refunds of $5.00 or less cannot be processed. If you leave early, please check-out at the contact station. If you are unable to arrive on your scheduled arrival date, you must call the campground. Failure to contact the park by 8:00 A.M. the morning following your scheduled arrival date may result in your campsite being reassigned to another camper and forfeiture of all fees paid. Getting There:Pittsfield State Forest1041 Cascade Street Pittsfield MA 01201 From East or West: Take Massachusetts Turnpike (Rte. 90) to Exit 2 (Lee) to Rte. 20 West. Follow signs into park. Turn right onto Hungerford Street, then left onto West Street. Make a right onto Church Hill Street and follow the signs to the park. The Cascade Street entrance is hidden on the left side of the road, if you reach the Dan Casey Causeway then you have gone too far. From North or South: Take Rte. 7 to Rte. 20 West. Follow signs into park. Turn right onto Hungerford Street, then left onto West Street. Make a right onto Church Hill Street and follow the signs to the park.
