A low water gravel launch ramp has been opened at Bidwell Canyon in the Lake Oroville State Recreation Area (LOSRA) to ensure access to the lake remains available as water levels continue to drop. Opening of this ramp was coordinated through a joint effort between California State Parks (CSP) and Department of Water Resources (DWR) to meet public launching needs, maintain marina shuttle service, and to enhance rescue response times.

DWR and CSP installed an aircraft landing mat near the Bidwell Canyon Boat Ramp to open a single-lane low water gravel boat ramp. A boarding float has also been installed for boaters. The portable restroom will remain at the lower parking lot for visitors. This area is four-wheel-drive recommended.

The Spillway low water gravel ramp will also remain available. Thus, there will be a total of two gravel launch lanes available at Lake Oroville for Labor Day Weekend and beyond. There is lighting set up for this area. As a reminder, the Spillway Low Water Gravel Boat Ramp is posted four-wheel-drive vehicles only.

Visitors whose reservations include any dates from August 19th and beyond may cancel their reservation and receive a full refund. Please note that the floating campsites will remain open for the duration of the reservation season.

Note to campers in the Bloomer North Fork Trail Camp: You will have a 10-mile hike, which is the distance on the trail leading to the 3 campsites from the Spillway parking lots.

For visitors in the Bloomer Group Boat-in campground, please be aware that our lake level is extremely low.

Season for Peak Fees:04/01 to 10/15

This man-made lake was formed by the tallest dam in the country (770 feet above the stream bed of the Feather River). Encompassing approximately 28,450 acres near the City of Oroville, the park offers family and group camping, boating, an extensive system of horse, bicycle, and hiking trails, and a state-of-the-art horse camp. The park features "floating campsites," moored in a cove. The area includes the Feather River Fish Hatchery, built by the Department of Water Resources, to replace lost spawning areas for salmon and steelhead. Displays on the State Water Project and the area's natural and cultural history are featured at the Visitor's Center.

Check the State Parks website for additional information on the weather, suggested day hikes, or to see the park brochure, campground map, park photos, video, and more. Information available will vary from park to park.Click here
