Season for Peak Fees: 05/15 to 09/15
New area of 40 foot sites available for reservations YEAR ROUND. Located at the base of the Sierra foothills, the 18,000-acre lake and recreation area offers opportunities for hiking, biking, running, camping, picnicking, horseback riding, water-skiing and boating. Fishing offers trout, catfish, big and small mouth bass or perch. Visitors can also see the Folsom Powerhouse (once called "the greatest operative electrical plant on the American continent"), which from 1885 to 1952 produced 11,000 volts of electricity for Sacramento residents. For cyclists, there is a 32-mile long bicycle path that connects Folsom Lake with many Sacramento County parks before reaching Old Sacramento. The park also includes Lake Natoma, downstream from Folsom Lake, which is popular for crew races, sailing, kayaking and other aquatic sports.
Folsom Lake State Recreation Area Bicycle Path As noted above, Folsom Lake State Recreation Area's 32-mile long paved bicycle path links the lake with many other county parks along the way before ending in Sacramento. Beginning at Beals Point at the lake to Discovery Park in Old Sacramento, the trail goes by the southwest corner of the lake, the west shore of Lake Natoma, and the American River. The bike path is considered to be one of the finest of its kind in the nation.
Check the State Parks website for additional information on the weather, suggested day hikes, or to see the park brochure, campground map, park photos, video, and more. Information available will vary from park to park.Click here

Each year during the fall and winter months, a seasonal closure is put in place at Peninsula Campground. As in the past, the closure of the Peninsula unit of Folsom Lake State Recreation Area will be in effect from October 1st through March 31st. Persons wishing to camp at Folsom Lake are directed to use the Beal's Point Campground.
Due to the fluctuating water levels at Folsom Lake SRA, the launch ramps at the Peninsula Campground are inoperable when the lake level falls below 430 feet. Campers may use other available ramps and boat over to the Peninsula. The following link will provide water levels: http://cdec.water.ca.gov/cgi-progs/queryF?FOL .
