    Overview

    Upper Stamp Creek Campground sits on the banks of Allatoona Lake, providing visitors with a variety of water activities in the green rolling hills of Georgia.

    Natural Features:

    Located only 45 miles from Atlanta, Allatoona Lake is situated on the Etowah River, a tributary of the Coosa River. The serene lake and peaceful surroundings offer visitors respite from the rush of city living.

    Recreation:

    Allatoona Lake is one of the most frequently visited Corps of Engineers lakes in the nation. Nearly 7 million visitors each year enjoy picnicking, swimming, camping, hunting, fishing, boating and observing wildlife along the 270 miles of shoreline.

    The lake is annually restocked with bass, crappie, bream, gar and catfish, making it a popular destination for anglers. Fishing jetties are available at numerous shoreline fishing locations, and a dock is provided at the campground.

    Facilities:

    Upper Stamp Creek Campground provides 20 spacious reservable campsites, conveniently located near the dock and swimming beach. Lake front sites are also available, giving visitors sweeping views of the vast lake.

    Fire rings, picnic areas, drinking water, flush toilets and showers are all provided, creating a comfortable camping experience for visitors.

    Nearby Attractions:

    The Visitor Center features video exhibits and displays about the area's history, ranging from the time of early Native Americans, to the Civil War and up to the present.

    The nearby town of Cartersville also offers several attractions, including science and art museums.

    Season Dates
    Upper Stamp Creek Campground opens May 16, 2014 and closes Sept 1, 2014. Aug 31, 2014 will be the last night to camp. For Day Use Sites, they open March 1, 2014 and close November 1, 2014. October 31, 2014 will be the last day to camp. This campground will only be open on weekends from 7AM Fridays until 3PM Mondays. It will also be open to camping on July 3, 2014 for the holiday.

    Upper Stamp Creek Campground opens May 15, 2015 and closes Sept 7, 2015. Sept 6, 2015 will be the last night to camp. For Day Use Sites, they open March 1, 2015 and close November 1, 2015. October 31, 2015 will be the last day to camp. This campground will only be open on weekends from 7AM Fridays until 3PM Mondays.

    From I-75 take exit 290 and head east on Highway 20 toward Canton/Rome. After 4 miles, turn right onto Wilderness Camp Road, then take a left onto Chitwood Cemetery Road and follow the signs to the campground.
