Campers are working to set up their site for the weekend in the campground at Tomoka State Park. They came prepared with a small travel trailer and two kayaks for exploring the rivers and creeks which are accessible from the boat ramp in Tomoka State Park. Two hikers stroll down one of the many miles of shaded nature trail toward the brackish water of the Tomoka River. From the shoreline there are many opportunities for wildlife viewing, some of our frequent visitors include: manatee, dolphin, and varieties of fish, as well as birds. Our 12 miles of nature trail meander thru a variety of plant communities, and are accessible to bikers as well as hikers. A motorcyclist cruises thru the tunnel of trees on the Ormond Scenic Loop and Trail, a designated Florida Scenic Highway that meanders thru the Tomoka Basin State Parks. A fisherman launches his boat at the marina at Tomoka State Park, with rental canoe and kayaks in the background, set on the scenic Tomoka River. Campers are welcome to bring their boats, or rent them from the Tomoka Outpost in order to fully experience the rivers, which provide great fishing, recreation, and wildlife viewing opportunities. A series of rivers are accessible from the Tomoka State Park boat ramp, including salt and fresh water, giving visitors the opportunity to experience a wide variety of wildlife.
