There are 15 walk-in, tent-only campsites and one group walk-in, tent-only campsite at the campground. They are nestled in a secluded oak savanna one mile south of Lake Mills, Wisconsin, on Mud Lake Road. Well water and pit toilets are available in the campground and showers at the Sandhill Station Campground in Lake Mills.

Sites that are not reserved are available on a first-come, first-served basis all year. There is a self-registration station near the entrance by the parking lot. After finding an unoccupied site, you must fill out a self-registration envelope in the self-registration station, put the camping fee in the envelope, remove the top copies, and place the envelope in the steel box at the registration station.
