Description

Lake Griffin State Park is nestled in a live oak hammock on sandhill terrain, typical of Florida's Central Ridge. Between the park's upland and Lake Griffin is an expansive marsh that provides the setting for one of its most distinctive features--the "floating islands." Floating in only a few feet of water, these islands are considered prime real estate by the wading birds.

NOTICE: Please excuse our dust! U.S. Highway 441-27 through Fruitland Park is in the process of being widened from four lanes to six lanes. Traffic congestion may cause short delays when entering and exiting the park. Construction equipment activity during the day may increase noise levels in the campground. Upon project completion, the park entrance/exit will be much improved and simplified.
