Description

Dedicated the first Illinois state park in 1908 and overlooking the Ohio River at Metropolis Illinois, this park has a military history predating the Revolutionary War. 1802 reconstructed fort, statue of George Rogers Clark, museum and visitor center. October's Fort Massac Encampment and several other living history weekends bring the past to life for American history buffs. Picnic areas with shelters, hikinig trails and boat ramp within park.

  • Shelter Reservations are non-refundable unless the area is closed by the Department, in this circumstance the Site Manager will contact you prior to your reservation date to cancel and issue your refund.
  • A responsible adult (18 years of age or older) from the camping party must register for the party and thereby acknowledge compliance with the rules and regulations of the park for the party.

    • All Spinners and Weavers are welcome to participate the first Saturday of each month. 10 am - 3pm from Jan 03 2010 to Dec 05 2010
    • Second Saturday of each month the Massiac Marines present a Living History Programi in the Historic 1802 fort. 10 am - 4pm no admission. from Jan 09 2010 to Dec 11 2010
    • 10 am - 5pm daily. Military and civilian craft activities and demonstrations. Both days begin with a Post of Colors. Highlights include mock battle and tactical demonstrations, voyagers, traders, craftman, children's activities, music, and period food and dress. No admission fee. from Oct 16 2010 to Oct 17 2010
