NO ALCOHOL ALLOWED
Mt. Vernon Shelter is not designated for an alcohol permit.

FIREWOOD RESTRICTION:
Due to the potential threat of the Emerald Ash Borer, the Maryland Department of Natural Resources has prohibited the importation of personal firewood into all DNR owned and managed properties. Please do not bring firewood with you from home when visiting a DNR property.

PRICING:
Prices are subject to change without notice and reservation fees, as well as cancellation fees are non-refundable.

SERVICE CHARGES:
In addition to the Shelter service charge, there is a $2 per vehicle charge into the park for Maryland residents. Out of state residents a $4 per vehicle charge.

Senior Citizens 62 and older with Maryland Park Service Golden Age Pass are free. Golden Age Pass requires a $10 fee. Information available at: http://dnr.maryland.gov/publiclands/goldenage.asp

TRASH FREE:
This is a 'Trash Free Park'. Pack it in pack it out. Recycle, Reuse, Reduce. Please bring sufficient large trash bags to remove trash.

PARK HOURS:

The park is open 8:00 am to Sunset, May through September.

10:00 am to Sunset, October through April.

Individuals using the Shelter must leave by Sunset.

No Pets Allowed.

Area

APPALACHIAN TRAIL:
The Appalachian Trail passes through the park and offers hiking and scenic vistas. Bikes, horses, and motorized vehicles are not permitted on trail. There is a museum that is open on weekends or by appointment.

SHELTER AMENITIES:
Shelter located in wooded area. Holds 20 people. 35 parking spaces. Easy access for caterers. NOT accessible for persons with diabilities. Grills. Shelter has a fireplace but firewood not supplied. Drinking water available at or next to shelter. Overlook view. Open play area. Hiking trails nearby. Within sight of playground.
