2013 Reservation/Transaction Fees:
In addition to the park facility use fee, there is a nightly reservation/transaction fee. Internet reservations, the per night fee is $4.56. Call Center, the per night fee is $4.61. Walk-In transactions at the park, the per night fee is $4.51. Reservation/Transaction Fees are Non-Refundable.
Cancellation Fee Policy Change-Effective May 1, 2013: To better serve our Maryland Park Service customers, we are changing our cancellation policy to a reservation cancellation service charge of $6 per reservation; except for Assateague Island State Park, which will remain at $6 per night. DescriptionHonoring the first President of the United States, Boonsboro citizens erected the first monument to George Washington, a rugged stone tower, in 1827 on the mountainside now within the park. Other features include rental pavilions, playground and a portion of the Appalachian Trail. There are youth group campsites available by reservation. The park offers picnic shelters and playing fields. It's a superb park for bird watching because the Cumberland Valley is a migratory bird flyway. Birding enthusiasts gather for an annual count of migrating hawks and eagles at the monument. Services & Amenities:
Alerts and Important Information ALCOHOL POLICY:
The consumption or possession of an open container of an alcoholic beverage will be prohibited in all state park areas with the exception of interior areas of full-service cabins and motorhomes. Alcohol permits will only be issued through a reservation for a designated shelter, or other approved facility. A $35 non-refundable fee will be charged for each alcohol permit. Permits may be revoked for cause by Park Manager, their designee or a Natural Resources Police Officer. Internet shelter reservations requiring an alcohol permit will need to contact the Call Center at 1-888-432-2267, Mon-Fri, 8 am - 8 pm to make your reservation.
