Access to this primitive camping area is by private boat only.

Alcoholic beverages are prohibited in all Massachusetts State Parks and Campgrounds.

The reservation must be in the name of the primary occupant.

To insure fairness for all MA customers, any reservation with departure dates outside the 6-month Maximum Window cannot be changed or canceled until 18 days after the reservation was made.

If you choose to cancel or change your reservation, a $10.00 fee will be charged. The reservation transaction charge is non-refundable.

Cancellations made on the day of arrival must be made by contacting the campground and will result in the loss of the first night's camping use fee plus the $10.00 cancellation fee. Fees will be deducted from any refunds due or will be added to future reservations. Refunds of $5.00 or less cannot be processed. If you leave early, please check-out with a ranger.

If you are unable to arrive on your scheduled arrival date, you must call the campground. Failure to contact the park by 8:00 A.M. the morning following your scheduled arrival date may result in your campsite being reassigned to another camper and forfeiture of all fees paid.

• Respect the 14-day camping limit. To ensure that many campers enjoy our parks, campers and camping equipment are limited to 14 cumulative days occupancy in any one park between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Violators of the 14-day limit may be asked to leave the park.
• Don't overcrowd your campsite. Please limit site occupancy to four people or one family (parents and children 17 or under). Please limit site equipment to two tents or one trailer or RV and one tent. Also, please no more than two vehicles per campsite.
• Check-in time is 1:00 P.M.; Check-out time is 11:00 A.M.
• Quiet hours are 10:00 P.M. to 7:00 A.M.
• Pets are welcome in most campgrounds, but please keep them on a 10' leash at all times, clean up after them, never leave them unattended and prevent them from disturbing others. Also, you must bring proof of rabies vaccination when camping with your pet. Pets are prohibited from designated beach areas, Boston Harbor Islands, Camp Nihan and all yurt and cabin sites.
• Massachusetts law requires that children age 16 and under wear a helmet when bicycling. The MA DCR encourages all cyclists to wear a helmet and to cycle safely.
• Please do not feed wild animals.
• There is no fresh water, showers or telephones on the island.
• Please bring adequate potable water to provide each member of your party with one gallon of water per day.
• No open fires are allowed on the island. Please bring a portable stove using man-made fuels or a charcoal grill.
• Please carry out everything you carried in.
• Ticks are present on Washburn Island. Please check yourself thoroughly.
• There are two nearby launch sites available, however parking is only available at White's Landing (see directions below).

Getting There:

Waquoit Bay National Research Estuarine is located on the southern part of Cape Cod, in southeastern Massachusetts. Access to the island is by private boat only. Overnight parking is only available in a large town administered parking area, adjacent to the intersection of Route 28 and White's Landing Road.

Follow Route 3 South to the Sagamore Bridge over the Cape Cod Canal. Route 3 crosses over the bridge and becomes Route 6. Take Exit 2 (Route 130). Turn right off the ramp and follow 130 South 7 miles to the 4th set of lights at Great Neck Road, turn right onto Great Neck Road and follow it 2 miles to the Mashpee Rotary. Halfway around the rotary, take Route 28 North toward Falmouth/Woods Hole. The reserve is located 3.5 miles from the rotary on the left.

Follow Route 495 or 195 to Route 25. Route 25 crosses over the Bourne Bridge and becomes Route 28. Follow Route 28 South to Route 151 (first exit after the Cataumet/Otis ANGB Rotary). Turn right off the ramp and follow 151 east toward New Seabury and the Mashpee Rotary. At the rotary, take Route 28 toward Falmouth/Woods Hole. The reserve is located 3.5 miles fromt he rotary on the left.

Proceed south on Route 28 (toward Mashpee). The Reserve is located on the right, 5 miles from downtown Falmouth and 0.5 miles past White's Landing/Edward's Boat Yard, just after the Waquoit Cemetery.

Follow Route 6 to exit 5 (Route 149). Follow 149 South towards Marstons Mills to Route 28. Take a right on 28 North (towards Falmouth). Follow Route 28 around the Mashpee Rotary and continue on 28 North towards Falmouth/Woods Hole. The reserve is located 3.5 miles from the rotary on the left.

Follow Route 28 north towards Falmouth/Woods Hole. The landing's parking area is located 4 miles from the rotary on the left, next to Edward's Boatyard and just after crossing the Childs River.

Proceed south on Route 28. The White's Landing parking lot is located just under 5 miles from downtown Falmouth (0.5 miles from Mahoney's Garden Center) on the right next to Edward's Boatyard.
