Overview

Trails End is a boat-in campsite along the Green River, located about 3 miles below Little Hole Boat Ramp at an approximate elevation of 6,000 feet.

The Green River provides spectacular fishing and river-running opportunities, as well as unique geology, outlaw history and Native American rock art.

Natural Features:

The campground is situated alongside the beautiful Green River in an area typical of a high desert environment. Shady juniper, cottonwood and ponderosa pine trees forest the riverbank. Summer wildflowers dot the landscape.

Recreation:

The Green River offers excellent fishing for rainbow, brown and cutthroat trout. Rafting and kayaking are very popular activities.

Facilities:

Trails End contains one reservable site equipped with a picnic table, campfire ring with benches, tent pads and a blind for a portable toilet. No potable water is available.

Nearby Attractions:

Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area is known not only for its beautiful red cliffs but also for its world-class fishing. Boating, water skiing, jet skiing, canoeing, kayaking, swimming and scuba diving are popular activities on the reservoir.

Flaming Gorge Dam offers guided tours of the working hydroelectric plant and the dam itself; the adjacent visitor center contains area history exhibits.

Services in the Dutch John area include Flaming Gorge Recreation Services (435-885-3474) with raft rental, guided fishing, shuttle service, general store, bait, gas, auto repair, showers and pay phones. Green River Outfitters (435-885-3338) offers shuttle service, guided fishing, a general store, bait and gas. Flaming Gorge Resort (435-889-3773) offers raft rentals, guided fishing, shuttle service, lodging, restaurant, general store, bait and gas.

An unofficial trail can be used to access the camp on foot
No potable water is available at the camp
Requirements to launch: boater must carry a bail bucket, throw line, extra oar and must wear a life jacket while on the water
The Forest Service requires the use of portable toilet systems for all campers; these toilets must be sealable, flushable and reusable; bag-lined systems are not allowed

From Vernal, Utah: Take U.S. Highway 191 north for 45 miles. Cross the Flaming Gorge Dam and turn right on the road leading to upper launch site at Spillway Boat Ramp.

To launch 7 miles downriver at Little Hole Boat Ramp, cross the dam and continue to the town of Dutch John. Turn right off Highway 191 and go east on Little Hole Road about 6 miles.

From Rock Springs, Wyoming: Take U.S. Highway 191 south for 63 miles. Just before crossing the dam, turn left on the road to Spillway Boat Ramp, or at the town of Dutch John, turn left off Highway 191 and go east on Little Hole Road about 6 miles to Little Hole Boat Ramp.

The campsite is 10 miles below Spillway Boat Ramp and 2.8 miles below Little Hole.
