HISTORY: Camp Potawatomi was constructed during the hard depression times of the 1930's and 1940's by the Works Project Administration (W.P.A.). The W.P.A. under the direction of the National Park Service developed what is now Tippecanoe River State Park and transferred ownership of this property to the State of Indiana on March 18, 1943. The W.P.A. employed more than 350 people from the local community. You will be lodging in cabins built by the men who constructed Tippecanoe River State Park over 60 years ago. We hope you enjoy your stay.

CAMPING AREA: Camp Potawatomi consists of forty-six buildings that are divided into four separate sleeping units and a centralized Kitchen Complex. The Kitchen Complex features a Kitchen/Dining Hall with seating and table service for 160 people. Each unit sleeps a maximum for forty campers. The Unit Lodge Building sleeps twelve, has limited electricity and a fireplace with insert for heating purposes. The seven Sleeping Cabins are all uninsulated, wood frame structures without electricity.

The Camp is equipped with 160 wooden frame beds with mattresses. Moving beds or mattresses from building to building is PROHIBITED. Tents, Recreational Vehicles and/or campers are not permitted in this area; however, campers that wish to stay in their own camping units may rent a campsite in the Family Campground and commute to Camp Potawatomi for group activities.
