Alerts and Important Information


You may have up to six people and 2 tents. There are no facilities. Water must be carried in. No vehicle access. Access site by foot & Mountain Bike Trail. Camping is centered around a 3-sided elevated trail shelter Approximately 1.5 miles from Trail Head. Campsite is 3.5 miles from Tugaloo Lake by trail. ($20.00 per night).
Check In before 3:00pm at Trail head located at Interpretive Center.

Free permits are required to access the gorge floor and can be obtained at the Interpretive Center. Visitors must wear proper footwear to obtain a permit -- no flip-flops or crocs. Permits will not be issued after 4 p.m. (3 p.m. during daylight savings time)
Permits limited to 100 per day. On busy days, permits may run out early in the morning. Permits are not transferable.
Groups of 20 can get permits on Saturday and Sunday only. Groups of 30 can get permits Monday through Friday only. To protect the natural resource, no groups larger than 30 are allowed.
Weather and water flow conditions can restrict gorge floor access.
During deer hunting season (Sept. 11 - Jan. 1) Stoneplace Trail permits will not be issued until after 10 a.m. and hikers/bikers are encouraged to wear reflective orange.

If you do not arrive on the day of your stay, your reservation will be cancelled, and you will forfeit your deposit.

Any device that discharges projectiles by any means is prohibited

Parking area locked after dark. Emergency information posted at outside phone. Permits are required to hike to the floor of the gorge and to bike the Stoneplace trail. Go to the Interpretive Center for information.
