Firewood Alert: Because of the seriousness of a potential infestation from the Emerald Ash Borer, we are requesting that no firewood be brought into South Carolina State Parks from outside of the state.

The Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) is a destructive invasive exotic beetle that feeds on ash trees. Park campgrounds and picnic areas are the most likely areas for EAB introduction into South Carolina. We appreciate your help in protecting the natural resources of South Carolina and our State Park System.

Description

There are several attractions located close to the park. There are several natural waterfalls within a few miles of the park. The park has over 10 miles of hiking trails, two lakes for fishing and a playground. Other attractions include Hagood Mill, Pickens County Museum, Hagood Mauldin House, Clemson University and Southern Weslyn College. Maps and brochures are available at the Park Headquarters Visitor Center.

Alerts and Important Information

The main family campground has 95 sites with water, 30amp electric, table and firering grill on each site.

There are 6 "Walk In" Primitive Sites, "Walk In" sites do not have power or access to bathhouse facilities. There is a pit toilet and hand pump for water.

All campers must check-in upon arrival before setting up units.
Please contact Reserve America to reserve camping and cabins up to 11 months in advance of arrival. For Cabin Reservations less than three days from arrival please contact the park, for advance camping reservations please call Reserve America, for same day arrival please call the park, to reserve ADA (Disabled Access) Standard sites contact the park.

Gates lock each night -please call for gate code if you plan to arrive after 7:00pm in the winter or 9:00pm Spring-Fall.

Hikers must be off all trails 30 mins before dark. Camping is not permitted on park trails.

An exchange of towels is available for all cabin guest for a fee. Contact the Park Office for details. Check in time for cabins is 4:00pm-5:00pm at the Welcome Center. If arriving after 5:00pm please call 1-864-878-9813 by 4:30pm the day of arrival to make arrangements for the cabin key. Check in time for camping is 2:00pm.

From Interstate 26 exit on exit #5, continue west on Highway 11 for 40 miles. Park is located on SC Highway 11 between US Hwy. 178 and US Hwy. 8.
If you are coming from Atlanta, Georgia on Interstate I-85, exit I-85 at South Carolina border on US Highway 11 at exit 1. Continue east for 45 miles on SC Highway 11. Continue through US Hwy 178 for 4 miles to the park gates.
