The consumption or possession of an open container of an alcoholic beverage will be prohibited in all state park areas with the exception of interior areas of full-service cabins, motorhomes, and designated shelters.
Alcohol permits will only be issued through a reservation for a designated shelter, or other approved facility. A $35 fee will be charged for each alcohol permit and must be obtained 1-day out prior to arrival. Permits may be revoked for cause by Park Manager, their designee or a Natural Resources Police Officer.
Internet shelter reservations requiring an alcohol permit will need to contact the Call Center at 1-888-432-2267, Mon-Fri, 8 am - 8 pm to make your reservation.

PARK ENTRANCE SERVICE CHARGES:
In addition to the Shelter rental, there is a service charge to enter the park. Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day the charge is $3 per person (out of state add $2). All other times the service charge is $2 per vehicle (out of state add $2).
Senior Citizens with Maryland Park Service Golden Age Pass are free. Golden Age Pass requires a $10 fee. Information available at: http://dnr.maryland.gov/publiclands/goldenage.asp
The park is open daily from 8:00 am until Sunset. Persons using the Shelter must leave by Sunset.
Pets are not permitted from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day.

The forest land around the campground and day-use area is home to black bear. They have been known to travel through the campground and picnic area looking for an easy meal. Please do not leave any food unattended.

Due to the potential threat of the Emerald Ash Borer, the Maryland Department of Natural Resources has prohibited the importation of personal firewood into all DNR owned and managed properties. Please do not bring firewood with you from home when visiting a DNR property.
Maryland State Parks are trash free. All trash generated by a group must be taken out by the group when they leave. Please bring sufficient large trash bags to accommodate the groups trash.
Shelter holds 70 people. 80 parking spaces are in the main parking lot,but these could be limited during summer weekends. Easy access for caterers. Grills. Electric. Lights. Less than 150 ft. to parking and restrooms. Open play area nearby. Wtihin 100 yards of Canyon Trail. Vehicles are not permitted on the grass area for loading or unloading. Handicapped accessible (paved access).
