Cathedral, Doe 1-2, Eagles Eyrie, Hawk's Nest, Maggie's 1-4, Oak View, Sky, Stars Rest, Sycamore backpack sites have no water. Please plan accordingly.
Hawk's Nest Backpack Camp (max capacity 5): shade, view of Alameda Creek Canyon and Oak Ridge, approx. 3.6 miles from Sunol Office. A beautiful small site under an ash tree, with limited but good views of Mission Peak, morning sun/afternoon shade, and convenient access to water/chemical toilet. Water available between site & Eagle's Eyrie; treat/boil/filter before use.
OHLONE WILDERNESS PERMIT (good for a year): everyone 12 years & older must have their own permit ($2.50 with a Visa or MasterCard online or by mail, or $2 during open hours at the Coyote Hills Visitor Center in Fremont, Del Valle Park in Livermore, Sunol Visitor Center, or Reservations Office in Oakland ). NO dogs. NO alcohol. NO vehicles including bicycles.
Each car must display valid overnight parking pass on dash: passes should be requested at time of reservation and are mailed 5-7 days in advance. PARK GATES are locked at night; late arrivals will not be able to enter. Closing times vary, check with park staff.
