Alerts and Important Information


Cathedral, Doe 1-2, Eagles Eyrie, Hawk's Nest, Maggie's 1-4, Oak View, Sky, Stars Rest, Sycamore backpack sites have no water. Please plan accordingly.

Doe 1 Horse Camp (max capacity 14) - This site has shade, and 6 hitching posts 15 feet apart. Located 9.3 miles from Sunol, 11.3 miles from Del Valle. Two flakes of hay included. Water available; recommend to treat, boil, or filter before use.

OHLONE WILDERNESS PERMIT (good for a year): everyone 12 years & older must have their own permit ($2.50 with a Visa or Mastercard at, search keyword "Permit" or $2 each at the Coyote Hills Visitor Center in Fremont). NO fires, dogs, alcohol, or vehicles including bicycles allowed. Overnight parking permit for one car is included and should be requested at time of reservation. Permits mailed 5 days in advance. You must request and pay for any additional overnight parking permits at least 5 days in advance. PARK GATES are locked at night, late arrivals will not be able to get into the park. Closing times vary: call the park (Sunol: 1-888-EBPARKS option 3, x4559).

* Reservations must be completed and paid in full 5 working days prior to your arrival date or 3 days prior if picking up parking passes/permits. * Please specify where you plan to park your vehicle. We need to mail all overnight parking permits. * SFWD Calaveras Reservoir Project: Backpack camp use allowed during construction. Weekday detours and heavy construction traffic possible 2012-2013. You must camp within 1/8 mile of your reserved site. You may not utilize space in sites that are not assigned to you. You must sign-in and sign-out to use the Ohlone Wilderness Trail where it crosses SF Water Department land and connects Mission Peak, Sunol Ohlone and Del Valle Parks.
