Alerts and Important Information


Park Hours November - February, 8 a.m. - 6 p.m. March, April, September, October, 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. May - August, 8 a.m. - 9 p.m. Closed Christmas Day Check-ins at the park office until 4:30 daily. After 4:30 check-in is at the Contact Station in the Campground. Alcoholic beverages and fireworks are prohibited. Firearms are prohibited except for with the proper license.
Firewood is available at the contact station and is only sold during hours of operation. No gathering of firewood in the park. Building fires in undesignated areas is prohibited.
Vehicles must be on paved/gravel driveways. Tents must be on graveled pads.
All cyclists under 16 must wear a helmet.
Pets are allowed except in park buildings and swim areas, but they must be on a leash no longer than six feet and cannot be left unattended.
Quiet hours are 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. Generators must also adhere to these hours.
Posted quiet hours are enforced.
Use of unlicensed motorized vehicles is prohibited including golf carts, ATV's, etc, with the exception of mobility aid devices used by a mobility impaired person.



NC fishing license and trout license required.
The park is closed Christmas Day. Therefore, no camping is allowed on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day.
North Carolina state park rules and regulations are posted in each park and enforced by rangers. Violating these rules and regulations is a misdemeanor and may result in a fine and revocation of permit.
State vehicle and traffic laws are enforced, and the speed limit is 25 mph unless otherwise posted.
Use of unlicensed motorized vehicles is prohibited including golf carts, atv's, etc.
North Carolina state parks are wildlife sanctuaries; no hunting is allowed and collecting plants, minerals and artifacts is prohibited.
