Area

Multiple Shelter Reservations:

Any person or group requiring 4 or more shelter rentals must first contact the Park Headquarters at 410-974-2149 prior to making reservations.

SWIMMING

Swimming available at South Beach. A portion of South Beach is protected with Lifeguards from Memorial Day to Labor Day, 11:00 am to 6:00 pm weekdays and 10:00 am to 6:00 pm weekends and holidays, weather permitting. Swimming is permitted when lifeguards are not on duty but is at your own risk. Swimming is allowed only within the roped swimming areas.

SERVICE CHARGES:
In addition to the shelter rental charge there is a per person facility service charge into the park. ALL visitors are subject to the facility service charge.

January 1st to March 31st -- $3.00 per vehicle
April 1st to October 31st -- $5.00 per person
November 1st to December 31st -- $3.00 per vehicle
Weekdays
January 1st to April 30th-- $3.00 per vehicle
May 1st to September 30th -- $4.00 per person
October 1st to December 31st -- $3.00 per vehicle

Add $2.00 for Out-of-State residents.

After-hours access for boating/fishing: $3.00/vehicle.

  • No charge for individual with Maryland Park Service Golden Age Pass. Golden Age Pass requires a $10 fee. Information available at: http://dnr2.maryland.gov/publiclands/Pages/goldenage.aspx
  • No charge for children in car seats.

    DAY USE TICKETS:
    Prepaid tickets for your guests may be purchased in advance of your event by contacting Sandy Point State Park at 410-974-2149. Tickets will NOT be held at the gate for will call. Service charges cannot be paid at the end of the event.

    SHELTER HOURS

    Shelters are available from 10:00 AM to Sunset. You will not have access to the shelter area prior to 10:00 AM - this includes caterers. Please plan accordingly.

    ALCOHOL PERMIT:

  • Alcohol permits are required at shelters and may be purchased for $35. Permit must be obained 1-day out prior to arrival
  • Reservations requiring an alcohol permit will need to contact the Call Center at 1-888-432-2267, Monday thru Friday, 8 AM - 8 PM to purchase a permit.
  • Each shelter is required to have a permit.
  • Permits may be revoked for cause by the Park Manger, the designee or a Natural Resources Police Officer.

    PRICING:
    Prices are subject to change without notice and reservation fees, as well as cancellation fees are non-refundable.

    TRASH:
    Maryland State Parks are TRASH Free. All trash generated by your group must be taken out by your group. Please bring large trash bags to accommodate your group's trash. Park personnel will not remove your trash.

    PETS
    Pets are NOT permitted.

    PARKING:
    28 parking spaces. Carpooling is encouraged. Once parking capacity has been reached all other visitors will be redirected to other parking lots.

    LOADING/UNLOADING:
    Only ONE vehicle is permitted at the shelter. All vehicles must remain on paved surfaces. No vehicles are permitted on grass areas.
