California State Park Discount Pass must be presented at the time of check in.

Your DMV Disabled Placard/License Plate does not automatically give you a discount on your campsite. You will need to obtain a CA State park-issued Disabled Discount Pass (DDP) or Distinguished Veterans Pass (DVP).

Fees include entry for 1 vehicle and 1 legally towed vehicle or trailer, additional vehicles will be charged per night at the park.

San Mateo Campground:

Sites 1-100: Reservations area available YEAR ROUND.

Sites 101-157: Reservations are available March 22 - April 6 (spring break); May 16 - September 30; November 22 - November 30 (Thanksgiving); December 20, 2013 - January 4, 2014 (Christmas); closed when not on reservations.

San Mateo Group Camp: 2013 Reservations are available for the Grand Opening beginning May 16 - September 30 (Peak Season); November 22 - November 30 (Thanksgiving); December 20, 2013 - January 4, 2014 (Christmas); closed when not on reservations. 2014 Reservations are available April 1 – September 30 (Peak Season); November 21 – November 29 (Thanksgiving); December 19, 2014 – January 3, 2015 (Christmas); closed when not on reservations.

At the San Mateo Campground the Hook Up sites have electricity and water only, NO Sewer.

San Mateo Campground is site specific for reservations, site is selected when making your reservation

Bluffs Campground:

amily Sites and Group Camp: Reservations are available May 16 - September 30; closed when not on reservations.

Bluff Sites are site specific for reservations, site is selected when making your reservation.

There are NO Hook up sites on the Bluffs.

To book a Group site you must have at least NINE occupants.

Getting There:

San Onofre State Beach is three miles south of San Clemente, off Interstate 5. Take the Basilone Road exit and follow Basilone Road until the road ends at the campground entrance station (Bluffs).
San Mateo Camping Area is located at the southern outskirts of San Clemente. Take Interstate 5, turn off at the Cristianitos exit, go inland 1 mile and San Mateo Camping Area is on the right side of the road.
