FIREWOOD ALERT!: Leave Your Firewood At Home! We need your help to protect our forests! A firewood quarantine has been established for much of the state of Virginia. In general, firewood can harbor insect pests under the bark and in the wood. The transport of infested firewood has been identified as a leading cause in the introduction of harmful forest insects into un-infested forest areas. The best way to prevent a new infestation of these invasive pests is to get your firewood AFTER arrival. Help us keep our parks pest free by leaving your firewood at home!

Description

Rudds Creek Park is located at John H. Kerr Reservoir. The 50,000 acre lake extends 39 miles up the wooded, cove-studded shoreline of the Roanoke River. Whether you like to swim, fish, camp, boat, or just relax, John H. Kerr is the perfect destination to enjoy nature's beauty. The Rudds Creek Park offers 99 campsites on or near the lake. There are 75 sites with water and electric hookups and 24 primitive sites. The campground also has 9 double sites. Amenities include an amphitheater, playgrounds, swim beaches, and 2 boat launch areas. Gas and groceries are less than 2 minutes away. Visitor Assistance Center - (434) 738-6143

Alerts and Important Information

This district will be completing several campground upgrade projects with funds received from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. Please expect construction projects to be on-going during your visit and pardon our progress to making your future visits more enjoyable as we make these facility upgrades. within the next couple months.

Reservations must be made at least 3 days in advance. 2 day minimum stay on weekends. 3 day minimum stay on holiday weekends.

The recreation area is open 1 April to 31 October and sites range from $15-$20/night and "buddy" sites at $30-$40/night. The entrance gate is locked at 11pm with quite hours 10pm-6am. Alcohol, ORV's, ATV's, motorized scooters and golf carts are prohibited. The campground telephone number is (434)738-6827.

EXTRA VEHICLE FEE: Campsites with more than 2 vehicles excluding the camping unit, will be charged a $4.00 extra vehicle fee, per vehicle, per night.
