Alerts and Important Information
ALL of our sites are primitive sites with no electricity or water. There are no drive-to sites.
ALL campers must check-in at the park office before proceeding to the camping area. ALL vehicles staying overnight must be registered at the park office.
Backpacking in: requires hike in of gear and water 2.5 miles. Dragging equipment, wagons, coolers, etc. is not permitted on trails.
Alcoholic beverages and fireworks are prohibited. Firearms are prohibited except for with the proper license.
Campfires are permitted in the metal fire rings only. Building fires in undesignated areas is prohibited. Wood that is down and dead may be gathered for fires. Fires must be attended at all times and completely extinguished before leaving camp.
The park gate is locked at closing. No parking or entering is permitted after closing. Emergency instructions and numbers will be provided to campers upon registering vehicles.
No tents are to be placed beyond mowed/maintained campsite.
Fishing is permitted. An in-state license is required.
Campers are recommended to arrive at the park no later than one hour prior to sunset to allow arrival at the site before dark.
Pets are allowed except in park buildings. All pets must be on a leash at all times, including camping area, and the leash should be no longer than six feet. Pets cannot be left unattended.
Tree bags or rigid containers are recommended for storing food. Please do not feed wild animals or leave trash or food on your site.
Quiet hours are from 9 pm to 7 am.
Posted quiet hours are enforced.
North Carolina state park rules and regulations are posted in each park and enforced by rangers. Violating these rules and regulations is a misdemeanor and may result in a fine and revocation of permit.
All plants, animals, rocks and minerals are protected. Collection of these and artifacts are prohibited.
State vehicle and traffic laws are enforced, and the speed limit is 25 mph unless otherwise posted.
There is no need to check out at the office.
Unlicensed vehicles, golf carts, ATV's and mini-bikes are prohibited with the exception of mobility-aid devices used by a mobility-impaired person. All vehicles including bicycles are prohibited from walkways, trails and other areas not designated for such purposes.
No water is available in the camping areas. Water is available at the main parking restroom area, the picnic shelter hydrant, and also water fountains located at the Visitor Center.
North Carolina state parks are wildlife sanctuaries; no hunting is allowed and collecting plants, minerals and artifacts is prohibited. State fishing regulations are enforced.
