ALL (1) OverviewLocated at Hartwell Lake, one of the southeast's largest and most popular public recreation areas, Poplar Springs is a summer day-use area that offers an ideal setting for a party, barbecue or simply a day of water activities with the family.Poplar Springs is located on the Georgia side of Hartwell Lake and boasts sweeping views of the nearly 56,000 acres of water that comprise Hartwell Lake. Natural Features:Hartwell Lake is a man-made lake bordering Georgia and South Carolina on the Savannah, Tugaloo and Seneca Rivers. The dam and lake areas boast nine campgrounds and 15 day-use facilities that are operated by the US Army Corps of Engineers. Recreation:Boating and water sports top the list of popular activities. A boat ramp is available year-round for visitors' convenience. Facilities:Poplar Springs offers multiple picnic areas, complete with shelters, flush toilets and playgrounds. Parking is available on-site. Nearby Attractions:Nearby Tugaloo State Park offers swimming, boating and hiking, including the Crow Tree and Muscadine trails, which showcase beautiful blooms on oak, walnut, mulberry and cherry trees during the spring and summer months.
