Overview

Point Supreme in Cedar Breaks National Monument offers a camping experience at 10,000 feet in elevation, available from mid-June to late-September. Visitors enjoy a variety of hiking trails, guided tours and breathtaking scenery.

Natural Features:

Cedar Breaks National Monument offers a spectacular view of deserts, forests, history, meadows and rocky spires. Although there are many special places to see in the United States, few offer an experience similar to Cedar Breaks.

Come visit a park that offers the chance to stand above 10,000 feet on a cliff edge surrounded by lush forests and wildflower-filled meadows, looking into a desert amphitheater 2,500 feet deep, covered with incredible, multi-colored hoodoos.

Recreation:

Visitors will always find something to do at Cedar Breaks, including daily ranger programs, guided hikes, the annual Wildflower Festival, Stories of the Past Festival, Fall Nature Festival, weekly star parties, the Junior Ranger program and hiking trails.

Facilities:

Point Supreme Campground accommodates both tents and RVs. Sites best for RVs include 6, 7, 9, 15, 26 and 29. For most large motor homes, Sites 7, 8, 26 and 29 are preferred.

Ranger-led evening programs are offered Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays beginning in late June. Programs begin at 9 p.m. at the campground amphitheater, and cover a wide range of topics from wildlife to astronomy.

Nearby Attractions:

Point Supreme is conveniently located near Bryce Canyon National Park, Brian Head Ski Resort, Navajo Lake, Duck Creek Village, Panguitch Lake, Mammoth Cave, Parowan Gap and Zion National Park. The Utah Shakespeare Festival is held annually in the summer in nearby Cedar City.

Know Before You Go

Be prepared for cooler temperatures and unpredictable weather; summertime highs average between 60 and 70°F, nighttime lows often dip to 30 and 40°F; thunderstorms frequently develop in the afternoons; be aware of the risks of lightning and avoid exposed trails and overlooks until the storms pass
High altitudes may cause shortness of breath and tiredness - slow down, rest often and drink plenty of water
The thinner atmosphere provides less protection from dangerous UV rays; wear a hat and use sunscreen
Pets must be leashed and attended; they are not permitted on trails or in the visitor center, but service animals are welcome
Hunting is prohibited inside the Monument
Do not feed wildlife; all animals, rocks and plants are protected by federal law and must be left undisturbed
Campground opening and closing dates may be slightly earlier or later and are subject to favorable weather
