2013 Reservation/Transaction Fees:

In addition to the park facility use fee, there is a nightly reservation/transaction fee. Internet reservations, the per night fee is $4.56. Call Center, the per night fee is $4.61. Walk-In transactions at the park, the per night fee is $4.51. Reservation/Transaction Fees are Non-Refundable.


Cancellation Fee Policy Change-Effective May 1, 2013:

To better serve our Maryland Park Service customers, we are changing our cancellation policy to a reservation cancellation service charge of $6 per reservation; except for Assateague Island State Park, which will remain at $6 per night.

Description

Tucked away on Maryland's lower eastern shore, this park is well known for cypress swamps that border the Pocomoke River. The river originates in the Great Cypress Swamp in Delaware and flows southwesterly 45 miles to the Chesapeake Bay. The park features hiking, biking, boating and fishing opportunities. There are two distinct areas: Millburn Landing, on the north side of the Pocomoke River on Route 364, and Shad Landing, on the south side of the river off Route 113. It is a 25-minute drive between the two areas of Pocomoke River State Park.This popular park also offers camping, camper cabins, boat launch, boat rentals, flat water canoeing, picnic areas, playgrounds, picnic shelters, and a swimming pool.

Alerts and Important Information

PET POLICY:

  • Milburn Landing - Pets allowed in all areas.
  • Shad Landing - Pets allowed in Marina day-use area, including the boat ramp area to board vessels. Pets allowed only in Acorn Trail Area camping loop and not left unattended.
  • Pets allowed in all day-use areas after Labor Day to Memorial Day weekend.

    ALCOHOL POLICY:

    The consumption or possession of an open container of an alcoholic beverage will be prohibited in all state park areas with the exception of interior areas of full-service cabins and motorhomes. Permits may be issued upon request by the Park Manager for special events operating under a use agreement.

    Alcohol permits will only be issued through a reservation for a designated shelter, or other approved facility. A $35 fee will be charged for each alcohol permit. Permits may be revoked for cause by Park Manager, their designee or a Natural Resources Police Officer.

    Internet shelter reservations requiring an alcohol permit will need to contact the Call Center at 1-888-432-2267, Mon-Fri, 8 am - 8 pm to make your reservation.

    HOW TO GET TO POCOMOKE RIVER STATE PARK:
    The park is located along the banks of the Pocomoke River and is divided into two sections.

  • The Shad Landing area is 3.5 miles south of Snow Hill near RT. 113.
  • The Milburn Landing area is 7 miles northeast of Pocomoke City via RT. 364 or RT. 12.

    From Salisbury bypass take Snow Hill Rd (Route 12) south 19 miles to traffic light in Snow Hill. Turn right onto Market Street (Business 113) and follow out of town. Road will merge with Route 113. Shad Landing is approximately 1 mile past merge on the right.
