OverviewOld Federal Campground lies on the eastern banks of Lake Lanier by the Chattahoochee Bay, in Northern Georgia.With more than 690 miles of shoreline and over 100 small islands to explore, campers are provided limitless recreation opportunities on the popular Lake Lanier. Natural Features:The reservoir was created in 1956 with the completion of Buford Dam on the Chattahoochee River, and today spans 38,000 acres in the lush foothills of the Georgia Blue Ridge Mountains. Recreation:Campers at Old Federal can swim at the beach, fish on the banks, and make use of the boat ramp for a day out on the water. Facilities:Of the 84 campsites, 59 have electric and water hookups. There are also seven walk-in sites for those who don't mind leaving their vehicles behind. Nearby Attractions:Visitors may want to explore nearby Sawnee Mountain Preserve for additional hiking opportunities and rock climbing. Activities and Amenities
