New Brighton State Beach features picnic areas, swimming, fishing and a nearby forest of Monterey pine. The camping area is on a bluff overlooking northern Monterey Bay. Reservations can be made YEAR-ROUND.

Alerts and Important Information
Due to a hazardous tree removal project, campsites are off reservation and available on a first-come first-served basis from December 1, 2012 through February 28, 2013. The project will only affect portions of the park and the campground will remain open. Please call (831) 464-6329 for further information.

Discount Pass must be presented at the time of check in.

Your DMV Disabled Placard/License Plate does not automatically give you a discount on your campsite. You will need to obtain a CA State park-issued Disabled Discount Pass (DDP) or Distinguished Veterans Pass (DVP).

    Park is subject to evacuation due to high winds and flooding.
    The park may be subject to construction during the reservation period.
    Minors under age 18 MUST have written permission slips prior to check-in, or THEY WILL BE TURNED AWAY!

    New Brighton reservations are Site Specific. Site is selected at the time the reservation is made.

  • Family sites are on reservations from March 1 - December 31. PLEASE NOTE: The park has several 1st come / 1st served sites during December, January, and February .
  • Group sites reservations 03/01 to 11/30 each year. Group sites closed when not on reservations.
  • The maximum consecutive stay from Mar 1 - Nov 30 is 7 days. When the maximum consecutive stay has occurred, the person(s), equipment, and/or vehicles(s) must vacate the campground for a period of 48 hours before returning for another stay.
    • Fees include entry for 1 vehicle and 1 legally towed vehicle or trailer, additional vehicles will be charged per night at the park.
    • To book a Group site you must have at least NINE occupants.

      Occupancy by the same persons, equipment, or vehicles of the Santa Cruz District's camping facilities is limited to a total of 30 days in any calendar year. These facilities include: Sunset SB campground, Manresa SB campground, Seacliff SB campground, New Brighton SB campground, Henry Cowell Redwoods SP campground, Big Basin Redwoods SP campground, and Portola Redwoods SP campground.

Getting There:

New Brighton SB is located 77 miles south of San Francisco, and 6 miles south of Santa Cruz on Highway 1. In the town of Capitola take the New Brighton/Park Avenue exit off Highway One.
