Overview

Merrill Campground is part of the Eagle Lake Recreation Area in the rolling hills of northern California.

The nearby Eagle Lake offers countless recreation opportunities for visitors, and the campground has access to miles of trails that are used year-round for hiking and mountain biking and by snowmobiling enthusiasts during the winter months.

Natural Features:

The campground sits on the southern shores of Eagle Lake in Lassen National Forest at an elevation of approximately 5,100 feet. It is nestled in a mixed conifer forest that provides shade to campsites throughout the day. Grassy meadows surround the campground and a number of sites have direct access to the lake.

Recreation:

The 27,000-acre lake provides ample boating, swimming, water skiing and sailing opportunities. Visitors also enjoy the plentiful trout fishing. A swimming beach and newly reconstructed boat ramp can be found at the nearby marina.

The campground offers access points for miles of trails within the Eagle Lake Recreation Area. A 6-mile hiking, biking and horseback riding trail parallels the lake and winds through the forest near the campground.

Facilities:

Merrill Campground offers a large number of single-family campsites for tent or RV camping. Most of the sites have full hookups. Water disposal sites are available throughout the campground and a dump station is located across the street.

Each site is equipped with tables and campfire rings with grills. Accessible flush toilets, electricity and drinking water are provided. Firewood is available for purchase, and internet service is also available at some sites that are near to the host site.
