MATHER CAMPGROUND (AZ), AZDescriptionThe 327 site Mather Campground is located in Northern Arizona within Grand Canyon National Park on the South Rim. Campsites include a fire ring with cooking grate, a picnic table, parking space, and room for up to 3 tents. NO HOOKUPS available, and generator use is allowed during the hours of 8AM - 10AM and 6PM - 8PM only. Almost all of our RV spaces are pull-through. Trailer Village, located next to us can accommodate larger RVs and trailers; they also have hookups. The terrain here is hard and rocky, sleeping pads are suggested and leveling equipment for RV's is recommended. Firewood can not be collected but is available at the general store. Showers and laundry are coin operated. Pine Loop (sites 265-319) are located in our tent only area, there are no generators allowed in those sites. We have flush toilets and fresh water throughout the campground, and also a free dump station. Hiker/biker sites are available for visitors arriving on foot or by bicycle, inquire at the office upon arrival. For general park information please visit our webs site @ www.nps.gov/grca. For back country camping BELOW the rim, call 928-638-7875. For hotels, cabins, mule rides, and camping with full hookups in Trailer Village please call 888-297-2757. Fifth-wheel owners: Please reserve one of the following sites only: 120, 121, 128, 172, or 185. We have very limited space for the larger rigs. These will hold up to a 34 foot fifth wheel. These sites are not for motor homes, please do not reserve these sites if you have anything other than a fifth wheel. Services & Amenities:
Alerts and Important InformationIF YOU ARE TO ARRIVE LATE FOR YOUR RESERVATION PLEASE CALL 928-638-7851 AS TO AVOID BEING NO SHOWED BY THE CAMPGROUND. DRIVING DISTANCE: Mather (South Rim) Campground is 210 driving miles (4.5 hours) south of North Rim Campground.Large groups arriving by bus must reserve sites #1, #6, or #7. The remaining group sites do not have parking for buses. Pets are allowed, must be leashed and not left unattended. Collecting of downed wood is prohibited. No firearms or fireworks allowed. Commercial groups must be booked into the group area located in Sage Loop. Camping fees do not include the $25 park entrance fee per vehicle. Hiker/biker sites are communal/shared sites and hold up to 6 individual reservations.For example: if you have 2 people in your hiking party you will need to make two separate reservations each with 1 person and 1 tent. The fee is for this site is $6.00 per person per night. No vehicles allowed in these sites. The last night for reservations this season will be November 21, 2010. The campground will then be "first come first served" with self registration by machine at the campground office. This will continue thru February 28, 2010. Advance reservations for the 2010 season will be available 6 months prior to camp date. (Latitude, Longitude): 36.05056, -112.02111 The Mather Campground is located in the Grand Canyon Village. From the south entrance follow the road for about three miles, Turn left on Center Road. travel 1/4 mile; turn right onto Market Plaza Road. The campground is about one mile down market plaza road on the right. Mather (South Rim) Campground is 210 driving miles (4.5 hours) south of North Rim Campground. From the east entrance follow the road 25 Miles, turn left at the "t" intersection onto South Entrance Road. Travel about 1/2 mile and turn right at that intersection onto center road.
