Description

Matagorda Bay Nature Park is a 1,600-acre park and preserve at the mouth of the Colorado River on the Matagorda Peninsula. LCRA developed the park to provide recreation, education, wetlands preservation and economic benefit to the region.

The park has about two miles of Gulf of Mexico and two miles river frontage and hundreds of acres of coastal marshes and dunes. It is one of the best birding areas in the nation. LCRA acquired the property in 2001 as part of its commitment to preserve natural resources for future generations and to provide science education, recreation and nature tourism opportunities

22 General Camping Sites: These sites back up to FM 2031, located adjacent to the RV Park. These sites have both 30/50 amp electrical service, sewer connections and a picnic table.

5 Pull-Through Sites: Located on the interior roads of the park, these pull-through sites have an obstructed view of the river, have both 30/50 amp electrical service, sewer connections and a picnic table.

24 Preferred Sites: Located on the the interior roads of the park, these sites have an obstructed view of the river, have both 30/50 amp electrical service, sewer connections and a picnic table.

19 Waterfront Camping Sites: Located on the waterfront, these sites have both 30/50 amp electrical service, sewer connections and a picnic table.

If arriving after regular business hours check in the the RV-Park Host on duty.
Regular Business Hours:
8am – 5 pm Monday thru Thursday
8am - 7 pm Friday
8am – 5pm Saturday
8am -2 pm Sunday

Pets are welcome in the park but must remain on leash or contained in a fenced structure. Pets are restricted to designated pet friendly mini-cabins.

Restrooms are available within the park. Laundry is available for additional cost.

Quiet Hours are between 10PM and 6AM. No excessive noise, running generators, or amplified music is permitted during quiet hours.

Smoking is strictly prohibited in any building

No glass containers are permitted.

Park may fall under a Burn Ban without notice. Please go to www.lcra.org/parks for up to date status of burn bans at LCRA parks. A Burn Ban may include the restriction of all camp fires as well as grilling with wood or coal.

Group Events are permitted at the park. Prior written permission shall be obtained from LCRA for any organized group activity on LCRA land involving 20 or more individuals. For additional information please contact LCRA Parks at 1-800-776-LCRA Ext. 3366.

Campsites:

Reservations cancelled at least 2 days (48 hours) in advance of the scheduled arrival date will receive a full refund minus any applicable transaction fees. No refund if reservations are cancelled less than 2 days (48 hours) prior to the scheduled arrival date.

Cabins:

Reservations cancelled at least 2 days (48 hours) in advance of the scheduled arrival date will receive a full refund minus any applicable transaction fees. No refund if reservations are cancelled less than 2 days (48 hours) prior to the scheduled arrival date.

Halls & Pavilions:

Before 15 days of arrival date: – Customer receives a full refund minus applicable transaction fees.

14 days or less of arrival date: – No refund.

Notification: For an emergency cancellation within 14 days of arrival contact LCRA park staff.

LCRA Transaction Fees:

For all reservations made on the web there will be a Reservation Fee of $6.00 per Transaction.

For reservations made through the Call Center there will be a Reservation Fee of $7.50 per Transaction.
