ALL (70) DescriptionMatagorda Bay Nature Park is a 1,600-acre park and preserve at the mouth of the Colorado River on the Matagorda Peninsula. LCRA developed the park to provide recreation, education, wetlands preservation and economic benefit to the region.The park has about two miles of Gulf of Mexico and two miles river frontage and hundreds of acres of coastal marshes and dunes. It is one of the best birding areas in the nation. LCRA acquired the property in 2001 as part of its commitment to preserve natural resources for future generations and to provide science education, recreation and nature tourism opportunities Weely Rates available in non-peak season. Alerts and Important Information If arriving after regular business hours check in the the RV-Park Host on duty.Regular Business Hours: 8am – 5 pm Monday thru Thursday 8am - 7 pm Friday 8am – 5pm Saturday 8am -2 pm Sunday Pets are welcome in the park but must remain on leash or contained in a fenced structure. Pets are restricted to designated pet friendly mini-cabins. Restrooms are available within the park. Laundry is available for additional cost. Quiet Hours are between 10PM and 6AM. No excessive noise, running generators, or amplified music is permitted during quiet hours. Smoking is strictly prohibited in any building No glass containers are permitted. Park may fall under a Burn Ban without notice. Please go to www.lcra.org/parks for up to date status of burn bans at LCRA parks. A Burn Ban may include the restriction of all camp fires as well as grilling with wood or coal. Group Events are permitted at the park. Prior written permission shall be obtained from LCRA for any organized group activity on LCRA land involving 20 or more individuals. LCRA Cancellation Policy: Campsites: Reservations cancelled at least 2 days (48 hours) in advance of the scheduled arrival date will receive a full refund minus any applicable transaction fees.
